When we attend a conference, we see the talks, the speakers, the packed rooms, the networking, and all the exciting moments.

But there’s a whole different story behind the scenes.

This year, I had the opportunity to serve as Program Chair for @pyconghana 2026, after serving in the same role in 2025.

From preparing the CFP and coordinating reviews, to selecting speakers, building the schedule, leading the program team, coordinating rooms, chasing follow-ups 😂, and making sure everything stayed on track during the conference there was a lot happening behind the scenes.

And honestly, I loved every bit of it.

In this blog, I share what the experience really looked like, the people who made it possible, the lessons I learned about leadership and collaboration, and why I continue to enjoy building programs for the Python community.

A conference doesn't just happen. A community makes it happen. 💛

I’m grateful to everyone who showed up, contributed, volunteered, reviewed, spoke, my co-organizers, and helped bring PyCon Ghana 2026 to life.

And to our amazing team, thank you for showing up and doing such a great job. ❤️

My first PyCon US, and I am still processing how incredible it was. 🐍✨

From keynotes that moved me to tears, to volunteering at booths, sitting on a D&I panel, meeting the creator of Python , Guido Van Rossum (🥰🥳), and making friends from across the globe Long Beach gave me a week I will never forget.

I wrote about all of it, If you have ever wondered what PyCon US is like, this one is for you.
