A Tennessee Sunrise >>> . . . Honestly was blown away by the conditions this morning. I’ve been up this mountain a handful of times now and always been underwhelmed, but I figured I’d give it another chance and holy moly was I amazed. I told my wife the night before that I was really praying for a cloud inversion, and I suppose God heard my prayers, because this was one of the most cinematic inversions I’ve ever seen. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 taken in Tennessee by @i.ben.weaver

A morning walk by the lake… . . . I’ve recently challenged myself to explore more places around me to show myself and others that there is beauty all around us, even in the simplest of places. I’ve never been to Edgar Evins before, and it just being 30 minutes from where I live, I really had no excuse to not go and check it out. What started as a reluctant goal, quickly turned into a memorable and joyful morning. I put some music on in my AirPods, and just walked. Walked the coast, walked the trails, walked the docks, everywhere. I didn’t think I’d have such a good time, but I did. Seeing all these neat little spots, my mind was full of all these creative ideas and compositions. . I learned a lesson this day, that if I have a good attitude while I’m out, and focus on enjoying the time I spend, I love the photos that come out of it, even if they aren’t all “masterpieces” taken in Edgar Evins State Park by @i.ben.weaver

Desert claws… . . . One of my favorite shots from my trip to Utah was this top down photo of the mountain cliffs. From this perspective, it looks like clawed digging into the orange desert sand. At least that’s what it looks like to me 😅 taken in Utah by @i.ben.weaver

A morning at Burgess… . . . If anyone ever takes a trip through middle Tennessee, the number 1 thing I always recommend is a morning kayak to Burgess Falls. Standing at over 130 ft tall (40+ meters), and always flowing, it’s an adventurer’s paradise. I do my best to make a trip every summer, and am always looking for friends to show this gem to. . This shot came from last year where my good buddy @flxarm got to experience this for the first time ever. Also shout out to him for letting me use his drone remote since mine wasn’t charged lol taken in Burgess Falls by @i.ben.weaver

Already missing snow… . . . One of the downsides of living in the Southern United States is that we get snow really less than 5 times, and it’s very unpredictable, so you don’t really know how to plan till you see the snowflakes falling. I’m thankful to live in a town that surrounded by places easy to get to, like this spot that’s only a few minutes from where I live. . When winter weather takes a break… . . . This shot was actually taken in January when the weather was 60°. Tennessee doesn’t get a lot of snow, so it’s always a challenge to take a photo with a “wintery feel.” My solution to this challenge is to grab a friend, drive to a cool waterfall, and drop the temp on the edit lol taken in Tennessee by @i.ben.weaver

A frosty morning walk in the park… . . . This year I’m really going to work on consistently going on photography walks and hikes. I’ve found that by making excuses for why I can’t do what I enjoy, I start to feel like wanting to quit. . While I may not be able to see the beauty of the PNW, the San Juans, even the Smoky Mountains every day, there is still beauty everywhere we look. Winter trips are always an adventure… . . . Was hoping for some scenic mountain shots this past weekend, but of course the weather conditions that day had different plans. Most of the shots we ended up getting were just from quick stops from the truck. . So while we may not have gotten what we wanted, we still made it an adventure worth sharing and remembering as best we could. ❄️ taken in Tennessee by @i.ben.weaver

A day on the parkway… . . . This day was probably one of the craziest I’ve ever had. The morning we found out the brakes in our car weren’t functioning properly. 😬 After the hike we went to downtown Boone to get our car fixed when we found out no one had the part we needed. 🫣 Then the weather shifted from no clouds to being super overcast so we didn’t have the sunset golden light we were hoping for. 🫠 Then we had to skip our sunrise hike because we had to get to Asheville early to get the part in our car fixed. 🫥 . So yeah, that put a bit of a bummer on the weekend, but in all that we met some great people who helped us and encouraged us along the way. We got tips from locals on new places to discover and places to see. So in all of the stress and panic, we still found ways to make the most of it and go with the flow. . So now this means we get to try again next fall to make up for it lol 🍁 taken in Blue Ridge Parkway by @i.ben.weaver

Back in 2019, I was talking with @nathandault about starting photography. Not knowing anything, he suggested the @canonusa Canon T7i as a good starter to see if I would enjoy photography. Little did I know how much I would come to love it. . All these years learning the basics of photography, learning how to edit, hours upon hours of YouTube tutorials, meeting so many new friends, taking my first trip, shooting my first wedding, etc. I shot them all on my starter. . Whenever I would tell people what I shot with, I would get similar reactions of bewilderment and curiosity. I guess for some people this camera was seen as a hindrance, but I never felt that way. . Well, a few weeks ago, it shot its last shot when ultimately the shutter malfunctioned and ended up breaking permanently. It was a bit of a shock and a mind warping moment of not having a camera anymore. I know I could get it repaired, but ultimately I knew it was time for an upgrade. . Yes my new camera is like going from a used car to a brand new Toyota Tacoma, but I still feel the same attachment I do to my old camera like that first used car you get. . I’ve always told people that your gear is not what makes a photographer, and I hope these photos show what you can do even with your first starter camera. . TLDR: my first camera broke and I’m sad, but I’m thankful for the journey it helped me have taken in Goodbye by @i.ben.weaver
