Summer of 2026 photo dump. I read somewhere how we only get to enjoy a finite number of summers with our pets, and it hit me pretty deep. This pretty much applies to anyone we love. Those seemingly endless carefree days of summer make the best memories, and yet we only get so many. And so I have been simply living—soaking in as much sunshine and time with my mom, Joey..friends, the outdoors. ❤️..#happiness #lungcancer #vancouver #runnerscommunity #summer by @i.heart.running

It is sometimes so hard to channel your inner badass while trying to be a good daughter, friend, partner, career woman, while trying to get enough sleep, eat enough protein and carbs, and find time to get a good balance of running and strength training in. Sometimes all we can do is try our best, and have fun ❤️ thank you @kaminorunningco @danielsimpsonjames for putting on another awesome race . It is hard to not have a good time when celebrating 🇨🇦 Canada Day with a race and the run community. I participated in the 10km and did not skip my lift session with @christinabonnyman that same evening. I did feel a little badass, but was ready for a nap 😴💤. Thanks @nothinglikerunning and Simon for taking photos, and congrats to my friend @kaminski903 on your Pb! Your journey has been inspiring! ...#mystrongmoment #runnerscommunity #lungcancer #thesweatlife #vancouver by @i.heart.running

Give a Breath 5km - 2026. This is my 3rd GAB, and it marks 2 years and 5 months since my mom’s stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. I volunteer, participate, and fundraise every year because this has become the most meaningful “race” in my life—to keep the hope going for my mom, lung cancer patients, and loved ones like myself. I do it to raise awareness about such a stigmatized and misunderstood illness (and yet is the number one cancer that kills in Canada), and I do it because every year we lose more friends, families and loved ones, and this is a way to honour their memory. I admit 2.5 years ago it never crossed my mind how a phone call will change how I see life and how precious it is. I sometimes catch myself getting upset about something and then I remind myself that only a few things matter and are worth my energy. I am acutely more aware of the little joys like lunch with my parents, or a crisp sunny morning. I know now nothing is forever, and it is more important than ever to live in the moment 🤍 thank you everyone who had generously donated. ...#giveabreath5k #lungcancer #5km #vancouver #bccancer by @i.heart.running

I took a much needed week off to do the things that make me happy. To be honest I don’t really need a lot—just being outside in the sun fills my cup. The bonus is being surrounded by people who I can be my sweaty self with. ❤️...#mystrongmoment #runhappy #Lagree #mentalhealth #runnerscommunity by @i.heart.running

Congratulations to everyone who raced yesterday, and thanks for all the DMs! Yesterday marked the 10 year anniversary of my first half marathon (hello 45-49 age group 😅), and I have never been as grateful to make it to another start (and finish) line. It was by far the hottest @bmovanmarathon I have ever run, and what kept me going yesterday (especially up all those hills my short term memory seems to forget about), was knowing that I was sharing this amazing day with a few odd 25,000 runners. Major respect to those who ran the full! I love running in new places, and have been lucky to run in the most beautiful and coolest places like Moab, Honolulu, San Fran, NYC, and Chicago, but there is nothing like a home town race. All the run groups are out cheering and it is like a party with your best friends. Vancouver always shines. ❤️ thank you to everyone and @runvancanada for another epic year. I had the best time. ...#bmovanmarathon #runvan #halfmarathon #vancouver #bmo by @i.heart.running

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend! I will be doing the @bmovanmarathon half—it will be the 10 year anniversary of my first half marathon so it is a meaningful one for me. I took some time off Instagram for a bit so I could decompress a bit. I admit I was feeling pretty down a week ago, and it makes me want to retreat into my cave. I barely had the energy to run, let alone hold a conversation with anyone. I have never enjoyed a taper as much as this one—because a break is what I really needed. ❤️...#bmovancouvermarathon #mystrongmoment #mentalhealth #runvan #runningmotivation by @i.heart.running

Thank to you everyone who has donated towards my Give a Breath 2026 campaign this year for lung cancer. I’ve raised $515 towards my $1000 goal. I just wanted to give an update on my mom and timeline to give perspective on how HOPE, advocacy, and modern medicine has contributed to her life since diagnosis in December 2023. November 2023: my mom finally got a CT after months of complaining about a persistent cough with blood. She was 69, and as non smoker, she was ignored.December 2023: Diagnosed with stage 4 (incurable) lung cancer caused by a mutation (EGFR Exon 19 deletion). Referred to BC Cancer in Vancouver, and started targeted therapy right away (Osimertinib by Astra Zeneca). Drug has controlled and reduced lesions in her lung, lymph nodes, and brain. Monitored every 3-4 months with CT/MRI scans.August 2025: noticed enlarged lymph node—one of the locations of her original metastases. Biopsy/PET scan ordered, confirming progression of disease.December 2025 & January 2026: radiation to treat oligoprogression in lymph node and a couple new spots in lung.March 2026: CT/PET scan confirmed that radiation treatments for above worked, but now further oligoprogession in clavicle lymph node. Radiation planned for next couple weeks. April 2026: celebrated my mom’s 72nd birthday. We did not think we would be able to do this in December 2023.April 13, 2026: met with new oncologist today (old one on mat leave), who said most likely her body is showing resistance, meaning that it is outsmarting the Osimertinib, and soon my mom will have to move on to chemo and another drug called amivantamab by Johnson and Johnson (just approved in Canada in December 2025). the IV infusions take 5 hours and have serious infusion side effections, but there is subcutenous way to deliver the drug that only takes 5 minutes. Just approved by FDA in US in December 2025, and February 2026 in Europe. Hopeful that we will get it soon here in Canada...#lungcancer #giveabreath5k #vancouver #marathon #bc by @i.heart.running

Another race in the books! After a decade of running, 🏃🏻‍♀️ it truly feels like a privilege to cross a finish line. If there is anything that I have learned these past few years, it is the fact that one day, without warning, all this could be taken away from you. My mom still hits the gym almost every day. A 71 year old stage 4 lung cancer patient. My biggest battles are nothing compared to the ones others are facing right now. 5kms are the hardest distances for me. You go in to fight and not quit—it is not supposed to be easy. I guess this is why I keep coming back to the start lines—to remind myself that I have the grit to survive some temporary pain. More fun with a community. Thank you @kaminorunningco , volunteers, sponsors, Nd fellow racers. It was a fun morning indeed....#easter #lungcancerawareness #runnersofinstagram #thesweatlife #halfmarathontraining by @i.heart.running
