Malayalam superstar Mohanlal returns in a cameo appearance as the mafia don Mathew in the action drama sequel Jailer 2.His appearance is structured as an extended cameo/special guest role rather than a full-length character arc.

Propelled heavily by the "Lalettan" factor, Kerala advance bookings for Jailer 2 crossed a staggering ₹1.61 crores in just one hour, tracking to become the top opening for any Tamil movie in Kerala for 2026. Total pre-sales rapidly climbed past ₹6.50 crores as the state prepares for a massive release across 800 screens.Fans are praising the "pure mass" aura and unmatched swag Mohanlal brings back to the screen. After his short but unforgettable 7-minute cameo in the first film became a cultural phenomenon, the expectation for a more majestic, extended, or impactful role in the sequel has given fans "goosebumps

Varavelppu(1989)📈

Varavelppu is a timeless Malayalam classic directed by Sathyan Anthikad, starring Mohanlal in one of his most memorable performances. The film follows
Murali, a Gulf returnee who comes back home with dreams of building a peaceful life, only to face the harsh realities of society, politics, and bureaucracy. With its realistic storytelling, subtle humour, and social commentary, Varavelppu remains deeply
relatable even decades after its release. It is a simple yet powerful story about dreams, disappointment, and the struggles of an ordinary man.
