Why is I-70 still closed near Silt?

From CDOT, “…maintenance crews are still working diligently to clear the road and reopen it safely. At its peak, the high water stretched roughly 300 yards and reached depths up to seven feet, leaving behind three feet of standing water”

Wednesday morning near Georgetown, Colorado

A detached semi trailer in the Eastbound lanes caught fire this morning around 6am and forced a temporary closure

I-70 is closed in both directions near Silt, CO

The highway is a giant mud pit and crews are working to clear the mud and debris

SLOW DOWN MOVE OVER please help us help you. This morning I was hooking up a truck just east of Vail Colorado. The truck was in a very bad spot with a very small shoulder I wasn’t too worried about it. My truck was very visible with full emergency lights going triangles out behind the unit. I was finishing hooking up and someone just about took me out. I had to squeeze up against my truck and let them come by at 70 miles an hour a foot away. Thank God, they at least beep their horn and gave me a warning. Please please please slow down. This does not have to happen. taken in Vail, Colorado by @i70things
