One of my proudest achievements is earning my Master of Science in International Relations and Business from American University on May 13, 2023—exactly a decade after graduating from the University of Vermont (May 13).

Despite yearly promises to return to school, I finally did in 2022. I used to feel behind schedule, thinking I had wasted a lot of time, but I’ve come to realize that God’s timing is always perfect.

On my graduation day, I had the worst hair day luck ever! Humidity on natural hair is no joke, and I was so in my feelings about it.

While I plan to redo my graduation photo someday, for now, here are some cherished memories captured in photos with my loved ones.

Peace and love! ❤️👩🏽‍🎓🎓🎉 by @i_amsummer

Happy birthday to my lovely aunt who has been more like a mother to me! 💐

On my way to college, you asked how I was going to support myself, and I told you I’d get a job.

You handed me an envelope filled with savings bonds you had been putting aside since I was a newborn. I was shocked by the amount but deeply appreciated that you saw something in me and invested in my future.

You’ve always been a shining light, even in my darkest days. I can always count on you. You’ve taught me how to sustain myself, and I hope to make you proud.

Thank you for seeing me, loving me, supporting me, and teaching me so much — so that I can continue becoming the woman I’m destined to be. 💖 by @i_amsummer
