Happy 39th birthday to Akwa Ibom State, created on September 23, 1987.

On my recent trip home, I travelled across the state with my camera, spoke with people from different walks of life and took time to see how far we have come.

I returned with memories, honest conversations and a deeper appreciation for the Akwa Ibom story. From the Uyo many of us once knew to the growing capital we see today, the journey deserves to be documented.

Some days you feel like you’re making progress. Other days, you just have to trust that you are.

I’m learning to appreciate both.

Keep showing up. Keep doing your part. Keep growing at your own pace. And don’t get so focused on where you’re going that you forget to enjoy where you are.
