Fragmented scribbles on death that finally made it out. by @iam.fadeelah

I happen to be deep in my head tonight and I can't help but think about the impact of friendships on our lives. How the people we decide to constantly hang around affect our psyche, our lingo, our mannerism, the ideologies we adopt وَهَكَذَا (and so on).

I have been thinking about my friends, the people I refer to as 'my friends' and the statement my mum said to me years back when I introduced someone I had just interacted with to her; "Not everyone is your friend."
Back then, I ignorantly shoved her words aside giving it little to no importance or thought even. The older I got though, the more I understood what those words infact meant. The people you surround yourself with, the people that you refer to as your 'clique' would either make or break you (spiritually, financially, morally, psychological e.t.c).

Personally, I am quite picky with the individuals I spend my time with as I am, with the people that I consider my friends. Sometimes, you might have that burst of superhero energy and say "I can't be easily influenced" or "I can change them. I am firm."
"Experience is the best teacher" they say and I actually agree with that to some extent.

Not everyone is your friend. Some people are best referred to as acquaintances, colleagues, course mates, team-members...yada yada (I picked up those words from someone that I've been around recently😭😂🤣). The influence of the people you interact & surround yourself with, has a great deal on you more than you think . It only makes sense that the Prophet emphasised the importance of righteous companions/company.

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "A man follows the religion of his friend; so each one should consider whom he makes his friend."

With all that being said [abi typed] (an attempt at me being funny😂), I believe the content that has occupied an amount of space in my brain has been let out. I pray A by @iam.fadeelah

& that's how we spent the afternoon at our 'Eid Potluck ♡
In the end, Allāh truly takes care of us and our hearts in ways we do not expect.

وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ نَصِيرًا
And sufficient is Allāh as the disposer of affairs, and sufficient is Allāh as a helper.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
All Praise is due to Allāh, Lord of the entire universe.

If you joined us on this beautiful afternoon, what was your favourite part of our gathering? by @iam.fadeelah

Sometimes, I can't help but wonder;

How many people would still admire/like us if our sins, flaws and errs emitted a stench odour. How many people would still find us to be amazing & inspiring?

Glory be to our Perfect Lord, Allāh at how He conceals our slips & accepts our repentance! All praise is due to Him truly! by @iam.fadeelah

Recently, I've been thinking about death and despite how aware we are of it, it still takes us by surprise. The whole concept of death. How one second you interact with someone and the next second you're standing in utter shock from the news of their passing. Death isn't new but it unwraps something new in us each time. New layers you never knew existed within your being. Strength you didn't know you possessed (by the permission of your Lord) until the storm of death shakes your entirety.

Sadly, life doesn't die because you died. One minute you're fully functioning, the next minute you're navigating the sea of grief that you've once tasted. And no, life doesn't stop in its tracks for you. Your exams don't get postponed and yet somehow...you have to 'act' normal.

I just returned to my notes from Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan's 'The Eternal Journey (Preparing for the grave & beyond)' and just the way plants dry up and wither, so do humans. There are so many ayats [signs] in plants that we can relate to ourselves. This Dunya is nothing but a stepping stone to the afterlife & of course, that doesn't cancel out our humanly feeling of longing.

I pray Allah forgives all those from the Ummah who have returned to Him (for Heﷻ is the Most Wise), comfort those who have lost dear ones and allows every single one of us return to Himﷻ when He is most pleased with us. Ameen.

"Anyone who goes towards it (the Dunya) and gives it his all, is giving his heart, mind and body to something that is going to perish and go. But the one who uses this Dunya as a stepping stone for the Akhirah, is the smart, clever one."

- Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan

I highly recommend giving the 2 episodes of 'The Eternal Journey (Preparing for the grave & beyond)' multiple listens.
