As we close out our staff appreciation posts and gear up for our 120th anniversary on today, May 5, we’re paying homage to our fearless leader — Dyanna Knight Lewis, Regional Vice President of Real Times Media and Publisher of the Chicago Defender! 🖤

The Defender is in her blood — from appearing in its pages as a child to now leading as publisher. She’s seen it all, shaped our legacy, and continues to champion the stories that matter. Today, we celebrate her!

Whether it’s International or National Daughters and/or Sons Day, I’m not exactly sure. What I do know is that my “Kidults, Youngerselves & Mini Me’s” are gifts from GOD and the loves of my life… my original Royal Heartbeats who make my heart beat every day, in every way! 🩷💙

In my world, EVERY day is Daughters & Sons Day! And I’m forever grateful for the blessing of being their Mom. 🥰🥰

That’s all❣️

Last evening, I had the pleasure of joining an intimate gathering of 25 guests on the 47th floor of Arrive Michigan Avenue in the South Loop for a beautifully curated dinner celebrating Dr. Kikora Mason @kikostyles and the introduction of her cookbook, From Their Table to Mine. ✨

The evening was such a lovely experience. From the thoughtfully curated, delectable, elevated soul food menu and beautiful ambiance to the meaningful conversations and connections around the table. A truly special way to experience the story behind the book.

Kudos to Dr. Mason for creating such an elegant and memorable evening, and a special shoutout to Moors Brewing and Love Cork Screw for their support. 🥂📖✨
