That is not your soulmate.
That is a warning label.

It’s been 6 days since my book signing…
relax, I didn’t ghost you 😅
I’ve just been over here processing it all.

Of course there were conversations…
that’s the whole point.

You connect with people
you talk
you hear their stories

That’s how books get into hands
and actually mean something.

But I wasn’t prepared for how deep some of those conversations went.

Women sat in front of me and shared things they’ve been carrying for decades.

And one woman said something I haven’t been able to shake.

She told me that when she was my age…
women weren’t allowed to be anything but wives and mothers.

If they took time for themselves,
they were guilted.
judged.
made to feel selfish.

It wasn’t just hard…
it wasn’t accepted.

And before her?

Her mother didn’t even have a voice.

And that hit me even harder when I thought about it…

Because there was a time when women weren’t just dismissed…

they were labeled.

Diagnosed with “hysteria.”
Treated like the problem.

Some were medicated.
Some were institutionalized.
Some were even lobotomized.

All for feeling too much,
needing more,
or not fitting into what they were told to be.

And then she looked at me and said:

“I wish I had a book like this when I was your age.”

That stayed with me.

Because this isn’t just about self-worth.

This is generational.

This is decades of women being told
to be smaller
quieter
easier
less

And now?

We’re the ones learning how to undo it.
We’re the ones choosing ourselves
without guilt
without apology

And all I keep thinking is…
we don’t need permission anymore…
so why are we still acting like we do? 👑

Sometimes you don’t lose yourself all at once.

It happens one piece at a time 🧩

One boundary you didn’t set.
One gut feeling you ignored.
One “it’s fine” when it absolutely fucking wasn’t.
One more time you made yourself smaller just to keep the peace.
Until one day, you finally see the pattern, and that’s the thing about patterns… once you see them, you get to decide whether they continue.
You don’t have to become the woman you were before it broke you. You get to decide who you become because of it.

Take the pieces that are still yours.
Leave the ones that never fucking belonged to you.
And build from there.

BURN WHAT BROKE YOU. 🔥
BUILD FROM TRUTH.
BE WORTHY AS FUCK. 👑

And maybe someday, what you learned becomes the thing that helps another woman see the pattern too. 🩷

My girl came home from her first week of school to work this weekend, and she surprised me with this. 🥹💙

While she was away, she bought me a University of Windsor Mom sweater from the campus store, then added every single rhinestone herself to bling it out just for me. ✨

While you are away spreading your wings, knowing that you took the time to make something so special for me made my heart smile. It reminded me that even though you are away, I am still right there with you, just as you are always with me.

Low self-worth usually doesn’t happen overnight.
It’s more like you’re driving along, your favourite song comes on and you’re like…
OH SHIT, THIS IS MY SONG. 🎶😂
Volume up.
Living your best life.
Full concert. Zero talent required.
Then it skips.
Whatever.
Then it skips again.
Okay… weird.
Then it keeps skipping and suddenly you’re listening to a remix nobody fucking asked for.
But it’s still your favourite song, so you keep listening.
And that’s kind of how losing yourself happens.
One ignored gut feeling.
One boundary you let slide.
One “maybe I’m overreacting.”
One “it’s fine.”
One “I can handle it.”
Until you’re standing in the middle of your own life thinking…
Wait. How the fuck did I get here?
It wasn’t overnight.
You just got so used to the skipping, you forgot what the song was supposed to sound like.

So naturally, I had to make the Steel Magnolias “Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa” cake.

And honestly, Dolly has always embodied something I fucking love:

You can be soft AND strong.
Kind AND powerful.
Feminine AND ambitious.

1 year ago today I officially became a published Author. What an amazing year it has been, 3 book signings, 3 times sold out shelves, connecting with women listening to their stories reading their messages has truly been surreal. I can’t wait to see what year 2 brings. Thank you to every who has supported me read their book came to the signings etc I am so thankful you have all been apart of this journey 💗
