This marks my last week working at The White House. Thank you President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris for your leadership. It has been the honor and a privilege of a lifetime to work for your administration. 🙏🏾🇺🇸🫡

As I reflect on my time in the Biden-Harris Administration, first serving at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division and most recently in The White House Office of Political Strategy and Outreach, I am incredibly proud of the tremendous progress and positive impact we’ve been able to make.

Under the leadership of President Biden and Vice President Harris, we have conquered a once-in-a-century pandemic while protecting American families, rescued our nation’s economy from the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, and worked to build a more just and equitable future, while making historic investments to rebuild the country’s crumbling infrastructure, build a clean energy economy, and create good-paying jobs.

I am so grateful to have worked with and learned from such an amazing team— full of smart, dedicated, and passionate individuals working tirelessly day-in and day-out to better the lives of all. 💙 A special thank you to my incredible bosses Emmy Ruiz, Dennis Cheng, and Jessica Looman for the opportunity to serve and for taking a chance on me— I will forever be grateful for your trust, leadership, and support. 🙏🏾🫶🏾

As this chapter comes to a close, I look forward to what new adventures lie ahead. #ThankYouJoe #BuildBackBetter #ABetterTomorrowToday taken in The White House by @iamadilson

One of the greatest privileges of my career has been learning from incredible leaders who not only carried extraordinary responsibility, but also made [and continue to make] tremendous impact.

While they all had their own leadership styles, the lesson was often the same which is that effective leadership is the ability to align and mobilize people and resources around a shared purpose while building the systems, relationships and culture necessary for long-term success and impact.

I wanted to share some of what I’ve learned from them because all of us have the capacity to lead. Every one of us can lead [or are already leading] somewhere, whether it’s at work, at home, in our communities or simply through the example we set.

Showcase your RECIPE. Many can have skills, degrees and ambition- but these are just the ingredients. What’s sets you apart and makes you unique is your recipe. It’s your lived experience, your vision, your approach, your passion… So in every endeavor, be sure you’re showcasing your recipe, not just the ingredients. 🍛

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is how to go from busy to better. Over the years, I’ve learned that strategy isn’t just about what you choose to pursue. It’s also about what you choose NOT to pursue.

Some of the best decisions I’ve made didn’t come from moving faster. They came from slowing down long enough to ask better questions. 🤔💭 And then taking the time to reflect on those answers. 🧐

Where is my time actually going? Is what I’m doing moving the needle? What deserves my attention? What deserves my energy? Where do I NEED to be?

Time is one of our most precious and finite resources. So we must ask ourselves how intentionally are we choosing to invest/spend it.

In a world that celebrates constant motion, do not underestimate the value of thoughtful reflection. Sometimes the most strategic and important thing you can do is pause long enough to read the signs to make sure you’re headed down your intended path.

One of the greatest misconceptions about success is that it arrives all at once. People see the end result and want to celebrate and mimic that.

But what people don’t see are the hours of blood, sweat and tears that got you to that destination. It’s the hours of practice; the sweat equity of learning, developing, and refining your craft; the trial and error; the starts and stops… Steph Curry didn’t just become the best shooter in the world all of a sudden. It took years of work and sacrifice. We notice the promotions, but often forget the years of preparation that make someone ready for it. Sometimes we just have to shift our mindset.

It takes determination, dedication and discipline. The journey to progress and impact is built with one intentional decision, one season of growth and one act of courage at a time. So never underestimate the value of showing up consistently, even when it feels like things aren’t changing. It may feel like that in the moment, but I promise you’re creating momentum. And momentum has a way of revealing itself only after you’ve committed to the work. That investment now will pay dividends later.

What’s one habit you’re grateful to have started? Or what’s one you’re looking to start?

I have been thinking a lot about this lately. 🤔💭 Looking back, some of the moments that changed my life or had a huge impact on my outlook didn’t seem so significant at the time. A conversation… a mentor… a particular book I was reading… a decision to say yes… a decision to say no or walk away… a quick introduction… a simple habit of listening to a particular podcast.

Sometimes you won’t recognize the turning point while you’re living through it. And sometimes you don’t realize how much your small decisions are shaping your future until years later.

That’s why it’s worth being intentional about the decision we make today, even the small ones. They have a way of becoming tomorrow’s opportunities.

What are some small decisions, routines, habits etc. that have changed your life more than you expected?

Cabo Verde has become the 2026 FIFA World Cup’s Cinderella story. ✨🇨🇻✨ Millions around the world are rooting for Cabo Verde because this team’s story hits home.

You don’t have to be Cape Verdean to believe in the power of resilience, representation, hope and possibility. Their story is a reminder that where you come from doesn’t have to determine how far you can go. This story extends far beyond Cabo Verde; it’s for anyone who’s ever been underestimated, overlooked, counted out or told to dream smaller.

Dream BIG! 💭 Keep working… Keep becoming. Your day will soon come!

This 2026 FIFA World Cup has been about much more than futebol for me.

Watching Cabo Verde make history on the world’s biggest stage and continuing to defy the odds has been a source of incredible pride, not just because of what this team has accomplished, but because of what it represents to so many Cape Verdeans in CV & across the diaspora 🇨🇻🇨🇻🇨🇻 and to others around the world. 🌍 Regardless of what happens in the Round of 32, Cabo Verde has already made history. 🙌🏾

I wanted to share a few reflections on why this moment means so much. #CaboVerde #CapeVerde #worldcup2026 #fifaworldcup #vozinha

Força! Nu bai!!! 💪🏾

Yesterday was a full circle moment for me attending the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. The energy throughout Jackson Park was incredible, and it was a joy to reconnect with friends and former colleagues, some of whom I had not seen in more than a decade! As we shared stories from our time in the trenches, the memories came flooding back. What a journey it has been since my time as an organizer on the Obama campaign and as an intern in the Obama White House all those years ago. What an impact the Obamas have had on many of our lives, experiences, and trajectories! What an impact they’ve had in our communities, our country, and across the globe.

As President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama shared in their remarks, the Obama Presidential Center is not just a museum preserving history. It is an active investment in our collective future. It is a testament to the power of hope, community, and the belief that ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they come together. It is more than a catalog of a movement that began nearly two decades ago. It is a continuation of that movement, one that has shaped so many of our lives and continues to expand pathways for future leaders, organizers, disruptors, and changemakers.

As they also reminded us, this is not just about legacy. It is about what we can still accomplish together when we choose to hope, when we choose to engage, to serve, to vote, to speak up and speak out, and to center community in everything we do. Yes, hard things are hard. But together, we can do hard things.

To everyone who has ever knocked a door, made a call, written a check, or simply believed when things were difficult, this Center belongs to you. And to anyone wondering whether their contribution to something larger than themselves matters, it does. It always has, and this Center is yours as well. To anyone around the world who has dared to dream, to hope, and to work toward a better tomorrow, know that the Obama Presidential Center is yours. Be sure to visit when you get the chance!

This past weekend, thanks to the Obama Foundation, I had the honor of joining fellow Obama alumni, community leaders, and others for a preview of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago before it officially opens to the public.

Walking through the exhibits brought me back to where my career began, as an organizer on President Obama’s reelection campaign in the battleground state of Nevada. I arrived in Las Vegas with more passion than experience and spent every waking hour knocking doors, registering voters, building teams, and organizing communities. I learned a tremendous amount on that campaign which laid the foundation for all that would follow. In every room that I have been blessed enough to enter since then, whether in government, on presidential campaigns, or in the nonprofit world, I would refer back to those early lessons and am grateful for everyone I’ve worked with, learned from, and who have helped me along my impact journey.

One thing that I’m still thinking about from last week’s trip to Chicago is a conversation I had with an older woman who I had never met before. She told me that the Center had given her a renewed sense of hope and that she now ‘wanted to get back out there and do something… to keep fighting for and believing in hope.’

That conversation really illustrated the power of the movement that was built nearly two decades ago and how masterfully the Center captures that feeling not only as a snapshot of history, but as a blueprint for the future.

At a time when cynicism can feel easier than hope, the Obama Presidential Center is a reminder that progress has never been easy or a given. It has always come as a result of people choosing to organize, to show up and show out and to speak up and speak out. It has come when we choose service over sidelines, organizing over apathy, and hope over cynicism.

I left Chicago reminded that YES WE CAN build a better tomorrow, as long as we continue to choose Hope. I pray you continue to choose hope and encourage everyone to visit when you can.
