Unconference event about culture work @uiavenezia yesterday, Giudecca island, Venice. Or was it culture in work setups, hiring, contracts and how to get culture financed? Or was it work culture and how to judge kowledge and know how with prospective colleagues or stageurs? All of it…and it was a lot, with not much time in between to get to know each other. After Shanghai I had nothing better to do than follow the invitation of the Luci su Revine festival and play an extensive set of eclectic music I produced (in various projects) over the last 20 years, challenging the crowd with a mix of projects and flavours as if there was no tomorrow. Shanghai with contrasts, antique crafts, stories of progress, dynamics of change, from Yu garden to millions of Chinese tourists (domestic tourism at a national holiday) who like to take a photos of the Bund at night, guided by police holding hands - and whistling as if there is no tomorrow. Like a flock of Koi in a lake of jade. Strange Fruits takes shape around the fruit as a symbolic and material device: a plant entity capable of harbouring stories of exploitation, migration, extinction and transformation. In @damianotata's practice, the fruit is a body that preserves the traces of the economies that have crossed it, the migrations that have transformed it, the myths that have made it readable and the sounds it continues to produce when it seems to have disappeared.

It does not matter if I post this or not, as it only feeds the algorithm which adjusts its weights. Maybe it’s a good photo, maybe it’s not, it does not matter…this is not a meritocracy, this is an algorithmic dictatorship. Maybe there are worse photos out there, maybe a lot if better ones. Last day of BookLook 2026, part of Pordenone Legge when we had an event presenting a publication of art-frame BOOKS with the curator @danielecapra and the sculptor Roberto Mascella who talked about posing „politician style“ in the performance project MANIFESTO of Giovanni Morbin (also including the curator @silvia_concari ) in public space. Art as a political intervention without a message but copying it’s aesthetic.
