CAP & GOWN is the story of graduating from the person I used to be.

For years I found myself stuck between who I was and who I knew I could become. I searched for confidence in the wrong places, lost sight of myself, questioned my purpose, and wrestled with the pressure of carrying responsibilities while still chasing my dreams. As a father, artist, student, and man trying to build a future, I often felt caught between survival and ambition.

This album documents that journey.

From the self-reflection of The Old Me, the forgiveness found in Our Heavenly Father, and the awakening of Wake Up, to the persistence of Oceans, the discipline of Shifting, and the confidence of Top 10, each song represents a lesson learned during one of the most transformative periods of my life. These aren’t just records they’re chapters. Every track captures a different stage of growth, accountability, faith, sacrifice, and self-discovery.

Albums like Wish Me Luck and Never Too Late represent the belief that even when the odds feel stacked against you, it’s never too late to rewrite your story. Desire captures the moment the spark returned. MOVE, Watch, and Lightz celebrate the rewards of staying committed to the vision. And HOM3 serves as the final destination: the realization that everything I spent years searching for was already inside me.

The title CAP & GOWN symbolizes more than earning a degree. It represents growth, maturity, freedom, and the courage to embrace a new chapter. The cap and gown are symbols of completion, but they are also symbols of beginning again. This project is about leaving behind old habits, old fears, old limitations, and stepping into the life I was always meant to live.

This is the soundtrack to becoming.

For a long time, I thought pouring into everyone else made me a good man.

I was showing up for people while neglecting myself.

Trying to save relationships.
Trying to meet expectations.
Trying to prove my worth.

Eventually I realized something…

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

The moment I started taking care of my mind, my body, my faith, and my purpose wasn’t the moment I became selfish! It was the moment I became capable of being a better father to Coyote, a better friend, a better artist, and a better man.

Sometimes the most selfless thing you can do is heal yourself first.

For a long time I thought my biggest obstacle was other people.

Then one day I looked in the mirror and realized the person standing in my way was me.

Not because I wasn’t capable.
Not because I wasn’t talented.

But because I was carrying habits, excuses, and versions of myself that I had already outgrown.

The Old Me isn’t about hating who I was.

In being seen.

Truth is, I was searching for something none of those things could give me.

Sometimes the biggest influence on your life isn’t what you’re doing,it’s what you’re using to avoid yourself.
