Today I was live on @skynews discussing birth trauma alongside some truly incredible women.We were joined by former Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, and the depth of the conversation — and the stories shared — are further proof of how much urgent investment is needed in antenatal and maternal care within the NHS.We cannot afford for these experiences to keep repeating. While many of us are fortunate to be here and able to tell our stories, far too many women were not.This is a short edited clip I’ve put together. The Covid Inquiry has just confirmed what grieving families like mine have knowns for years — that some of the 235,000+ deaths “may have been avoided had the country been better prepared.”My father and his wife were two of them. Gone within a month of each other, both alone in a hospital bed, while the government wasted £10 billion on PPE that couldn’t even be used.Reading that line didn’t bring closure. Labour Party is changing their leader but still sticking to the same strategy: •Publicly performative about their internal and deep rooted alignment with racial hierarchies• It is like pretending to recognise discriminative policies in a contract, apologising THEN keeping the same contract with a few tweaked words and changing the font. The problem is deep rooted and Keir Starmer made sure that it would be with his passive yet authoritarian leadership. Remember when the Tories changed Prime Ministers about 5 times but the corruption just kept showing up?
