Moments on a Mountain. 🏔️

Some time ago, I found myself at the highest point of a mountain, sitting on the edge over 1,000 feet above everything.

There was no noise or demands. Just mountains, water, silence and perspective.

I went up there for the view. I came down with a kind of peace I didn’t know I needed.

I think about this moment almost everyday because some moments just don’t leave you when you leave them.

Every now and then, you need to get away from the noise and the schedule and routine. Find somewhere that reminds you that you are a human being before you are everything you have to be for everybody else.

The truth is, sometimes you just need to go sit still, BE and just breathe 😮‍💨

You’ve heard of Worship. You’ve heard of Outreach. You’ve heard of Discipleship.

But have you heard of Church Life? 👀

Church Life is about what happens beyond the Sunday service. It’s the people, systems, culture, leadership, connection and intentionality that help move someone from simply attending church to actually belonging, growing, serving and thriving in it.

As Chief Church Life Officer, I live at the intersection of ministry and implementation, helping build the infrastructure that turns vision into experiences that impact people.

It’s called Church Life, and once you see it, you can’t unsee where it’s missing.

Here’s what I’ve learned: A healthy church doesn’t happen accidentally.

I am looking forward to sharing insight about building healthy ministry, developing people, creating culture and turning vision into implementation.

Some of it might challenge how we’ve always done church.

They tell you your name is in rooms you haven’t walked into yet. Then one day, you walk into those rooms and realize they weren’t lying.

What an incredible honor it is to begin this journey with the historic Mt. Zion Baptist Church, led by one of the defining leaders of our time, Bishop Joseph W. Walker III.

I met Pastor @diamondjgantt at FGBCFI, and she shared that this day and the days to come had already been discussed in their boardroom meetings. Barely weeks later, here we are. She’s actually like that!

Today was an amazing walkthrough and complete site visit with Elder @iambrianbradshaw

I’m grateful for the opportunity to undergird this next shift for a ministry that has helped shape so many of us through the years.

What an honor. What a joy. Let’s ride! 🙏🏾🚀
