If you know me, you know I’ve been talking about creating planners, books, and journals for YEARS. I’ve always been a planner girl, carrying one, using one, and designing one in my head long before I ever put anything on paper. Over the last 3 years, I’ve played with countless layouts and edits… while also making every excuse not to finish.

One thing I really wanted to do was write a book with Melody, highlighting her journey with her IEP, reminding her that needing a little extra help never made her any less smart, capable, or gifted. We started it, and even though the book got completed, I dragged my feet on the edits.

But here’s the beautiful part… by the time I decided to stop talking and actually DO IT, Melody had already grown past the very chapter we were writing. From elementary school through her first year of middle school, she worked hard, used her supports, and showed up every single day. Now she’s in 7th grade, taking advanced classes, and the school called ME to say she doesn’t need an IEP anymore. SHE DID THAT.

And even though she’s advanced, we’re still telling her story, because learning differently is nothing to be ashamed of. It’s a superpower.

To everyone who’s been asking for the link: I wanted to wait until I reviewed the author copies and made the final edits. I know you’ve seen close friends and family with her book already because they couldn’t wait. 😂

Creating her book (with 3 more on the way!) and working on my journals has been a true learning experience author, illustrator, and editor all in one.

The moral of the story? If there’s something you want to do… DO IT. I’d never have imagined I’d have 22 completed designs ready to upload and more planners in the works.
