If I have a small outdoor event, I will bring a sub to pair with my EV50s because they lack low-end when you turn them up. Everything goes through the external mixer to enhance the sound quality give you more head room. Click the link in my bio for my full equipment list.

Other DJs will critique your subs, your speaker placement, and every piece of gear in your setup. But the couple that hires you is not looking at your setup and deciding if you bought the right sub. They are looking at your content. They are watching how you communicate. And they are deciding whether they trust you to help their wedding run the way they want it to.

Yes, your gear does need to be reliable, sound good, and do the job. But once you hit that point, buying more equipment does not automatically help you book better weddings. My average wedding is around $3,800 with two tops, one or two subs, and 20 uplights. The difference is not that my gear is expensive. It is that clients understand the experience I provide before they ever see the setup.

STOP sending your quote to clients. If the price is the first time a client sees what you do, they have no reason to understand it. Show them your plan. Show them how you communicate. Show them what you do. Then the price has context before they see it.
