PSA to my students: Yes, AI is helpful, but it can never replace you.

Everyone makes mistakes. You are brilliant! Normalize making mistakes, that’s how you learn.

Make mistakes & make them often.

New chapter unlocked: raising adult daughters.

Celebrating life after college, new careers, cars, woohsah! Missing my two bonus daughters - Life is definitely lifing.

What I’m learning:
💗Every moment is a complete blessing, make it an unforgettable memory

💗When they share something and you want to add your 2cents - smile & nod

💗Be present - put down the phone, look into their eyes, be there

💗Give advice when invited to. Love & support is what they need most

💗Pray, pray, pray - your prayers will go further than your own words. Trust.

Life is short. Pause the noise. Pursue those talents God gave you. Don’t leave any of them here, when your time comes.

I disappeared from social media this summer. On purpose.

I hadn’t posted since May. Not because I didn’t have anything to share.

I was too busy living it.

I wanted to spend this summer “IRL”, in real life.

I wanted to be fully present for my own life instead of thinking about how to capture it or post it.

And I loved it.

✨I took in sunrises and sunsets differently.

✨I sat longer. Listened more closely. Laughed harder. Gave tighter hugs.

✨I hosted gatherings for no other reason than wanting people I love in the same room.

✨I gave to my community more and loved on my family deeper & longer. Life is short.

❤️I was present for the big moments:
- Watching all three of my triplets graduate, giving them their degrees on stage
- Attending the film premiere of my daughter
- Celebrating birthdays and anniversaries
- Traveling with family and welcoming a new pet into our home.

💚And I was present for the wonderfully ordinary moments, too.

I grew vegetables. So many vegetables.
More flowers than I’ve ever grown.
I propagated lavender.
My houseplants had babies.
I grew some muscles, too.

✅I rested. I detached.

✨And somewhere in the spaciousness of all of that, I completed another book.

🎉This December, I’ll release my new book on health and social justice and begin hosting book conversations about something I’ve spent much of my career studying and teaching: how the policies, practices and systems around us shape our health.

😌And now I’m closing out this beautiful summer by hosting my third spa meditation retreat for busy professional women.

✅For a few days, we stepped away with an onsite chef preparing our meals, a massage therapist, an esthetician, meditation, nature, good conversation and plenty of space to do absolutely nothing but “sleep, eat, and repeat”.

🎯Because I’ve become even more convinced that rest isn’t what we earn after we’ve exhausted ourselves.

✅Rest is part of how we live well.

✨Every now and then, put the phone down, close your laptop, and let a beautiful moment belong only to you.

There is nothing more meaningful than seeing your students thrive

Both in the classroom and on the field. 🤍

Today I had the joy of touring the soccer and lacrosse academic building (thank you Ulysses!)
⚽️cheering from the fields
⚽️meeting the coaches
⚽️witnessing my students show up with discipline, passion, and heart

❤️ To be invited into these spaces… to be welcomed… to be gifted a Big Ten hoodie…

❤️it reminded me that teaching is never just about lectures.

❤️It’s about relationships.

❤️It’s about showing up.

❤️It’s about being present in the moments that matter most.

My student athletes: I am so proud of each of you🥍🏊‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️ ⚾️🏀🏈⚽️❤️

I see you. I support you. And I’m always cheering you on, on campus and beyond. ✨
