I’ve been a heliophysics nerd since my teens. After taking AP physics in high school, I started religiously following a website called SpaceWeather.com where I learned all about sunspots, CME’s, solar maximums and the sun cycle. I’ve had kp index notifications from NOAA pinging my phone for years (if only to annoy my husband who would roll his eyes). But even at its peak, I never thought I’d actually be able to see the northern lights from my own backyard.

Until last night when my dream came true.

It may be a Carrington-like event but there are no nearby telegraphs that might spontaneously ignite on fire* so please enjoy these images I managed to snap at 3am once the cloud cover finally moved out of the f%cking way. 🌈

*The Carrington Event occurred in 1859 when a large earth-facing sunspot erupted and hurled a strong CME at earth, causing a geomagnetic storm that resulted in auroras across the globe and numerous telegraphs spontaneously lighting on fire. by @iamedencale

Choosing chaos and officially opening up my inbox to potential client work in Boston so I can finally make my love affair with this city official. I’ve got a Charlie Card in one hand and some Dunkin’ in another. I’m ready. Call me, Massholes! 🫶🏼 taken in Boston, Massachusetts by @iamedencale

10 years ago today, I went on a date with a guy I met on a plane.

‘I would recognize you in total darkness, were you mute and I deaf. I would recognize you in another lifetime entirely, in different bodies, different times. And I would love you in all of this, until the very last star in the sky burnt out into oblivion.’ — Achilles taken in In my dreams by @iamedencale
