Thank you @glaad and @ally for recognizing me as a #Changemaker, and for your GENEROUS donation to my organization, @blackgiftedwhole.

Filmed in my hometown of Detroit, in some of my favorite places, was the healing I didn’t know I needed.

This college drop-out has raised over $100k for other students to stay in school. Next up, BGW will introduce our BGWhole STEM Program for Black Queer Men.

What is meant for YOU will never miss you.

It’s taken me over two weeks to find the words to express how grateful I am to have been honored by @nativesonnow .

There are moments in your career that are loud, when everyone knows your work and celebrates you accordingly. And then there are the quiet moments, when you put your head down, keep doing the work, and the phone never rings. I truly thought I was in one of those quiet seasons.

So thank you, Fatha, @emilwilbekin, and the entire Native Son team, Gilead, and everyone who gathered to celebrate us. This honor means more than I can put into words.

The work I do through Black Gifted & Whole @blackgiftedwhole didn’t just save others. It saved me, too. Knowing that it has also impacted so many other lives is the greatest reward I could ever ask for.

And finally, thank you to my team for constantly encouraging me to keep going, especially @remmingtonfb. I couldn’t do any of this without you! by @iamguyanthony

The truth about HIV is that the world loves the story of survival.

They celebrate you for saying it out loud. They call you brave. They give you microphones and applause.

Almost 20 years ago, I was one of those people. I was celebrated for my honesty about living with HIV.

Now at 40, the story is quieter. It’s just life….figuring out who I am beyond the diagnosis and beyond the advocacy.

And while some of us are reflecting, people in Florida are still fighting just to keep their medication through ADAP. Voices like Kamaria Laffrey remind us that this fight is far from over.

Her pre-obituary is hauntingly heartbreaking because it forces you to watch someone grieve themselves while they are still alive.

Some of us were celebrated for telling our stories.
Others are still fighting just to live theirs.
