Early this morning, my mum closed her eyes for the final time after a short, six week battle with cancer.

We never really had time to process the news of her diagnosis, let alone prepare for the hole now left behind. So to put it simply, I’m absolutely destroyed right now.

As she’s now reunited with my Dad, and my grandma and grandad, the only comfort we have is that mum did not suffer in her final days. For that, we have the fantastic team of nurses, doctors (and fellow patients) at Haywood House to thank, who did their absolute upmost to care for mum as well as support myself, my sister and family.

Until we meet again. Sleep tight mummy xx 💔 by @iamhaydnjames

Inner child unlocked! Toy Story remains one of my favourite films of all time, so meeting the man himself was serious bucket list stuff!

But it was hilarious! I had no idea what Woody wanted me to do for half of this, so most of the photos are me looking confused 🤣 But we got there in the end… I think! 🤣🤣 taken in Disney Adventure World by @iamhaydnjames

Disney Adventure World in Paris. Possibly my favourite park of the two… controversial opinion I know, but it’s amazing! World of Frozen was stunning. The nighttime show over the lake, incredible! And Tower of Terror was my absolute favourite ride 😍 taken in Disney Adventure World by @iamhaydnjames

Disneyland Paris 2026. It really is the most magical and happiest place on Earth. I loved it. I needed it. And I’ll definitely be going back! taken in Disneyland Paris by @iamhaydnjames

When we booked this, I hadn’t even seen the film so had no idea what to expect. But it was bloody brilliant!

Captivated from start to finish. Awesome cast, staging and atmosphere throughout. And yes, I’ve now seen the film too 😂

I haven’t really talked about this to anyone this week, but it’s been a tough one. I just wanted to get on with things and get through it.

Every year since we lost Dad in 2018, Mum and I (and Hayley, until we married her off 🤣) went away a couple of times a year. Yarmouth, Filey and Mablethorpe.

The last few years, I’d been suggesting we try somewhere new and, last October, on what turned out to be our last little break together, I finally convinced her and we booked to visit Pwllheli in Wales on 7 September 2026.

That was this week. Or should have been.

As much as I’d have loved to finally go somewhere new with Mum, I’d give anything right now for it to have been just another week in Filey. Or even just a week off at home with her.

Instead of this.

Totally last minute, unplanned escape to Palma Nova in Majorca. Literally booked Friday, flew Tuesday.

Absolutely love Majorca. The perfect place for a little recharge, healing and recovery. Though, being August in was a bit spenny and so, so, so! hot. 🫣🥵

Definitely be back though. Just maybe when it’s a little quieter and cooler. 😂
