Eight years ago, I arrived in Australia with just my hand luggage.

I’ve shared that part of my story before, but there’s so much about that beginning I haven’t really talked about.

Looking back, one thing has become clearer to me:

A new beginning doesn’t always look or feel like one when you’re standing in it.

Not every new beginning arrives feeling exciting or celebratory. Sometimes you’re entering something new while still dealing with uncertainty, loss, or the ending of what came before.

New beginnings come in different forms.

Mine started in June 2018, in a new country, with just my hand luggage. There was a lot of uncertainty, but somewhere underneath it all, I had this quiet feeling that I would not be stranded.

And maybe you’re standing in your own new beginning right now. Don’t dismiss it simply because it doesn’t look like the beginning you imagined.

Eight years later, I’m still watching the story unfold.

And God is still writing it. ❤️

Seven years ago, I began a journey that would stretch my faith in ways I never imagined.

When I arrived in Australia in June 2018, I had no idea how the story would unfold. There would be seasons of waiting, uncertainty, unexpected detours, and prayers that seemed unanswered.

Today, I’m grateful to share that I have officially become an Australian Permanent Resident. 🇦🇺❤️

This July, as my birthday approached, I found myself praying one simple prayer: “Lord, I’d love this to be my birthday gift.”

As I walked around Jubilee Lane in my neighbourhood, I spoke those words in faith over and over again. I didn’t know how or when it would happen, but I trusted that God had heard my prayer.

Not exactly on my birthday, but in His perfect timing, He answered.

This isn’t just about a visa.

It’s a testimony of God’s faithfulness through every delay, every challenge, every unexpected turn, and every season that taught me to trust Him more deeply.

Looking back, I can see that while I was waiting for an answer, God was writing every chapter. He wasn’t just preparing an outcome, He was preparing me.

If you’re in a waiting season today, don’t lose heart.

God hasn’t forgotten you. He’s still working, even when you can’t see it. The same God who has been faithful to me is faithful to you too.

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” — Psalm 126:3

Had to introduce a few of my choir friends to @greatmantakit ‘s ADML after church! 😂🇳🇬 Gave them a little translation of the lyrics, and then we got dancing! 💃🏾❤️

But can we talk about the swag our guy @collinsnganji brought to the dance? 😂🔥 He understood the assignment!

WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED?! 😭🔥😂

Honestly, that was my thought after @calvarytsville conference.

What an experience! I’m still processing it all. So much joy, laughter, incredible worship, beautiful connections, powerful moments in the presence of the Holy Spirit and preaching that left me knowing I simply cannot go back the same. ❤️🔥

And Chris Estrada @pcestrada @ericaeestrada … my goodness! 😂🔥 The power, the anointing, the prophetic, the FUN — he brings it all! One minute I was laughing so hard I could almost roll on the floor, and the next moment… whew! 😭🔥 And his daughters! The whole family, actually. So gifted and such a beautiful prophetic anointing. I haven’t recovered. 😂

A few moments from my conference diary 📸❤️

✨ Behind the scenes — loved being part of the setup and then watching everything come alive.

🙌🏾 The worship — the atmosphere, the joy, the presence of the Holy Spirit… beautiful!

🔥 The preaching — powerful, provoking and transformational. The kind that confronts you, stretches you and leaves you with things to wrestle with long after the conference is over.

❤️ The connections — met these two beautiful girls @elliana_colaivalu @estara.colaivalu and had such a beautiful conversation. One of those unexpected connections that became a special part of the conference for me.

🇳🇬💃🏾 And of course… Naija found Naija. 😂 When two Nigerians meet in church and the music hits right, what do you expect us to do? 😂🇳🇬

📚 Another special moment was meeting and chatting with one of my lecturers who compiled some of the manuals we’ve been studying from at Bible college. We talked about the courses and what I’ve been loving about college. Such a beautiful moment.

There was so much packed into these few days — worship, laughter, the prophetic, preaching, connections, serving, fun and the presence of God.

Powerful. Provoking. Transformational. 🔥

I’m still processing it all, but one thing is certain:

Remaining the same after this one is not an option.

No wonder I woke up thinking:

WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED?! 😭🔥

And then…

Take me baaaack! 😂😭🔥

Happy Father’s Day in heaven, Daddy. ❤️

There are footprints of my father’s life all over mine.

Daddy was my number-one encourager and one of the first people to recognise and intentionally nurture the gifts God placed in me.

He took me to choir at six, bought me cassettes to learn songs from, and when he recognised the gift of music in me, he didn’t just encourage it , he invested in it. He got me a music teacher who taught me to sing and play the keyboard for years.

Looking at my life today, I can trace so much back to a father who saw the seed early and chose to water it.

But his greatest legacy to me was faith.

Daddy was an apostolic minister, a radical preacher of the gospel and a man of extraordinary faith. I grew up watching someone who didn’t just preach about believing God , he lived it.

Hearing his voice again in this clip, preaching about the joy of the Lord being our strength -a joy that can carry us against all odds, is incredibly special.

This is the same man who told me that before I was born, God had already given him my name: Joy. 🤍

He also repeatedly told me, “Joy, go to Bible school.” And now, as I study at Bible and Leadership College, I sometimes smile and think, Daddy, you see? I’m still walking in the direction you pointed me towards.

I miss him. I really miss him.

But I’m grateful that so much of what he poured into me is still bearing fruit.

What we pour into our children can outlive us.

Happy Father’s Day to every father intentionally loving, guiding, praying and nurturing the next generation. ❤️

Hello September. 🤍

We may already be a few days into the month, but I still love the sense of hope a new month brings.

Maybe you’re excited about what’s ahead. Maybe you’re still carrying prayers that haven’t been answered. Maybe the year hasn’t unfolded quite the way you imagined.

Wherever you find yourself, remember: a lot can still happen.

God is not limited by how much of the year has already passed.

So as we settle into September, let’s carry gratitude for how far we’ve come, faith for what we’re still believing for, and the courage to keep living fully while we wait.

God is still writing our stories. 🤍

Here’s to September. ✨

Seven years is a long time to wait for an answer. But one thing I’m grateful for is that I didn’t put my whole life on pause while I waited.

There were uncertainties. There were detours. There were moments I didn’t know how the story would end.

But there were also friendships, music, serving, learning, creating, laughter… and moments that changed my life. ❤️

Looking back now, I realise that the waiting years were still living years.

So if you’re waiting for something you’ve prayed for, worked for, or hoped for:

Don’t pause your life while you’re waiting.

Live the life that is available to you today. 🌿✨

My girls said we’re still celebrating… and they meant it!

What a beautiful afternoon filled with love, laughter, good food, thoughtful gifts and the sweetest conversations. My heart is so full. 🥰

So grateful for these beautiful women and the gift of friendship. Thank you for showing up, celebrating with me and making this season even more special. 💕
