POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The Last Supper gave us the opportunity to close one chapter surrounded by the people who helped give it life.

From the welcome cards at the entrance and the live podcast recording to the shared food, conversations, DJ sets and new connections formed throughout the evening, every part of the experience reflected the kind of community we want Proof of Life to continue building.

It was a farewell to The C.Cast, an introduction to Proof of Life and a celebration of the stories, relationships and creative energy that carried us to this point.

A special thank you to Artistry for giving the evening a home, Nawty Water for keeping the room refreshed, and every artist, collaborator, partner and team member who contributed to the experience.

To everyone who joined us in person, watched the livestream, shared the content or supported the journey from wherever you were, thank you for being part of the story.

This was The Last Supper. The next chapter is already alive.

Stepping back into the music scene feels like rediscovering a part of myself. It's been exhilarating to blend beats and bring joy through music again. A massive shoutout to @dandelionclo for the invitation to play—big thanks to @ingagubeka and @dandelion_black2 for making it possible!

I'm also excited to share about Rhythm & Vision, our new live platform where I stream mixes and engage with the vibrant CreatreCommunity. It's more than just music; it’s about connecting cultures and creating meaningful dialogues. Be on the lookout for a reminder to the live stream.

Here is a quick throwback to an experience that shaped my outlook on resilience and persistence - 3 years ago, when we created 'The Iconoclast' for the Bokeh Fashion Film Festival. Against all odds, we emerged first in the Emerging Talent Segment, a victory that was far more than just a win; it was a testament to the power of never giving up.

We embarked on this journey with zero budget, supported only by the generosity of sponsors who supplied gear, food, and a studio for one day. Yet, just when we thought we were making headway, an unexpected bout of load-shedding threw our plans into disarray.

Many might have been tempted to give up at this point - but not us. We rallied, decided to come back the next day for another round of shooting, and with the support of our sponsors, persevered. Our tenacity even took us on a 2-day road trip to Durban to capture the shots we needed to make our vision become a reality.

Persistence, a will to succeed, and the refusal to let adversity deter us - these are the factors that led us to victory, but more importantly, they taught me a life-long lesson. A lesson about strength, determination, and the power of a shared vision.

I carry this lesson with me today, applying it to every project we undertake at JD Creations. It is a reminder of our ability to weather any storm and continue to strive for our goals. I share this story not just as a reflection of personal growth but as a call to action for us as a nation.

These are challenging times. The obstacles may seem insurmountable. But remember, persistence and resilience can overcome any adversity. So let’s push through, believing that the rewards on the other side will be well worth our efforts.

Who really shapes culture?

At One Last Game, that question opened up a much bigger conversation about the people, structures and communities behind South Africa’s creative ecosystem.

The Visionaries bring the ideas.
The Operators build what allows those ideas to live.
The Tastemakers understand where culture meets community.

But none of them operate alone.

From ownership and visibility to creative play, local context and the structures that sustain great ideas, this conversation explored what actually happens behind the cultural moments we see.

The One Last Game conversation is coming to YouTube.

There are house mixes that move a room, and there are mixes that give the room somewhere to disappear into.

Ritas Mix 2: Part 1 finds OOU moving through deep house with patience, blending rolling grooves with soulful vocals, spoken-word moments and spiritual textures that give the set a deeper emotional pulse.

Recorded at Ritas Cocktail Club, the mix carries that late-night feeling where reflection and movement start becoming part of the same experience.

The full mix is live now on YouTube. Link in bio.

Josh’s confessional makes The Operators philosophy pretty clear: structure creates the conditions for everyone to play properly.

For him, asking questions, interpreting the rules and agreeing on how the game should work is part of making sure everyone has a fair shot. Call it overthinking if you want, but The Operators are coming into One Last Game with a plan. 😭

10 September at Artistry. RSVP via the link in bio.

Ritas Mix 2 begins here.

For Part 1, OOU moves through house and deep house with warm selections, patient transitions and the kind of groove that slowly pulls the room into its own rhythm.

Recorded at Ritas Cocktail Club, this first chapter carries a late-night feeling built for staying with the music a little longer.

Swipe through a few moments from the set, then experience Ritas Mix 2: Part 1 in full on YouTube. Link in bio.

There’s something really special about seeing these two moments next to each other.

In 2022, I was having one of the early C.Cast conversations with @healthwithazi over Zoom. At the time, we were still figuring out what the platform could become, following our curiosity and creating space for conversations with people whose stories and perspectives felt worth sharing.

Fast forward to 2026, and that same spirit has grown into something much bigger. The conversations are now happening in person, in rooms filled with people, and the platform has expanded into live events where the conversation is only one part of the experience. We’re also creating space for music, art, community and intentional connections between the people who attend.

The second image captures one of those moments from our latest @our.proofoflife event, and putting it next to that 2022 Zoom call really shows me how much the journey has evolved.

The name changed. The format expanded. We moved from online conversations into physical spaces and started building experiences around them. Through all of that growth and diversification, the heart of it has stayed the same: bringing people together through meaningful conversation and creating opportunities for genuine connection.

A proper full-circle moment. ❤️ taken in Artistry JHB by @iamjoshdylan

The Girls Are Alright is more than an exhibition - it’s a celebration of women artists, creativity, and the power of connection.

In collaboration with @our.proofoflife we’re creating space for meaningful conversation in a time when so much of our interaction happens online. Join us for an intimate discussion hosted by @iamjoshdylan alongside exhibition curators @mo.dupi @whokilled_abo and @madalitsosimelane as they unpack the ideas, stories, and connections behind The Girls Are Alright.
