Some songs have an inherent way of connecting with people. ‘Holiday’ is one of those songs.

Originally released in 2014, this song found its way to half a million people on SoundCloud organically.

It made sense to give this piece of music its own moment.

We’re really grateful to be able to put this out properly with the incredible team behind us.

Our queen turns 34 today which also marks exactly 10 years from the day we met. In that time we got married, started our family (shout out yo-yo), immigrated to a new continent, bought an apartment, started a business, seen new parts of the world and been through just about as much together as two people possibly could. So lucky to still be discovering new things together after all these years.

When I started working for myself last year, I didn’t know what things would look like a year and a half later. I’ve been proud to work in social, but when doing this work I often felt capable of so much more - not just for myself but for everyone around me. This sentiment is echoed in greenroom conversations.

Whilst I love my job and I still live for music, everything has become shortened, clipped, chopped and rushed. Maybe the older I become the more patient I am becoming and how we consume new music has become at odds with that.

This project changed everything for me. For the first time it gave me the opportunity for pause, patience and deep creative work. The biggest learning here being that when you push aside all those obstacles, refuse to compromise and laser in on a vision - the support from your community is immense. I would have never thought that in this time we would be able to secure partnerships with AIAIAI, Drumsheds, Toga Archives and work with an incredible artist like HAAi on something this ambitious.

This film reminds me, and I hope reminds others, that we don’t have to accept how things currently are. Proud to know that this work sits in a bracket of work that challenges how we perceive music and creativity. Art for art’s sake, not for views and engagement.

Anything is possible. And sometimes it just takes the courage to start.

This wouldn’t have been possible without Glynn, Tosh, Teneil, Marcus, Terry and countless others who poured their hearts into making this piece of work. Thank you for everything you have given us in the pursuit of this insane idea.
