@mta what the hell?!?! On Thursday, May 21st at around 6:10 p.m., I was leaving the Delancey St. station via the Essex St.exit, and was walking through these -- glass? lucite? something -- doors when they slammed shut on me. And I mean REALLY SMACKED me, incredibly hard. Almost in the face, but thank goodness not -- they "only" caught the edge of my right hand in between the two doors, while also smacking nto my left forearm. The impact really hurt!!! Like *really* hurt -- like "spontaneous tears springing to my eyes" hurt, like "incredibly sharp pain" hurt, like "being smacked really hard with glass doors" hurt. And the doors wouldn't swing open again until the jocular commuter just behind me ("Ha-heyyy, whooaa, you okay?? You sure?!") triggered the sensors to open the doors again, because they were clearly ignoring me. No major damage was sustained (as far as I can tell), thank goodness, but I'm still feeling results of the impact today.The person in the token booth was nice -- she asked me three times if I needed her to call an ambulance for me, and took down a report of exactly what happened and said she would alert someone. But JFC, that's a bad accident waiting to happen. If I were a weaker person, or had been a few millimeters further into the turnstile, or if this were an elder trying to go through ... that thing could have easily caused major damage to someone's face or knocked them backward altogether. And I know a lot of friends who use that particular subway exit, especially if they're going to the rehearsal spot in the area, so PSA: Everyone please be safe and approach these things with caution!!! (I took these photos on my way back through that same station, after giving that particular turnstile an extremely wide berth.) by @iamkfm
