Mama made the difference… 💙 Things it took her 30 years to learn, she was pouring into me at 12. Meanwhile, I just wanted to jump off roofs and play Mortal Kombat 😂

I didn’t realize Mama was giving me FREE GAME and THE ADVANTAGE.

“And that ain’t gonna kost you nothing.” 🥹

Thanks, Blu!! Here’s some of ya pink back 🦩🌺🌸

I tivo’d this video and learned the dance. And still remember it.. lol. (Hey Marty if you wanna teach DRM..One of my fav Janet khoreographies.. I mean I will most def be there every night!! Pinky swear😜

Funfact me & another super fan stormed Tower Records or Virgin.. I don’t remember which but we requested that they give us the promotional posters off the wall when the promotion was over and they did. So I used to have that giant picture of Janet laying Naked on my ceiling to wake up to every day.. 2001 was lit asf!! #flashbackFriday taken in Khildlike by @iamkhosen

Issa Swipe :Diskouragement had sank its fangs into my life early. I had given-up on my first love: Dance after NOT booking any jobs (Well I booked one video with Atlantic Starr who later kut the project so the video never aired.) I had been told I was a good dancer since I was a kid so I thought my natural talent would be suffice. Boy was I ill-informed. I was not aware that dancing is a highly kompetive sport and you’re kompeting against people who have been training since they were kids. Im the oldest of 6 born to a teenage mother from Pacoima… so I HAD NEVER TAKEN A DANCE KLASS BEFORE. Didn’t even kno it was such a thing🤯. So I was like imma make it another way imma get rich buy me a studio record my own songs and dance to my own beat. Well 20 + years had gone by and I still aint rich yet and damn near forgot I even had this gift. My interest was ignited when I learned that I kould learn the official choreography to one of my favorite routines from the 2000 VMAs Doesn’t Really Matter by Janet Jackson.

Backstory: Doesn’t Really Matter had always been special to me because that song was released around the time my favorite uncle passed away. 😢 If you know me you kno my uncle was the only real male role model I had growing up and he believed in my gifts and talents. I would like to think I was his favorite but I only know for sure that I was his 1st nephew. Unk took me to my first koncert ever to see the woman who I had been obsessing about since a kid: Janet Jackson. We went to see The Velvet Rope Tour in 98’.

Doesn’t Really Matter was her next project after the tour & for the soundtrack to the Nutty Professor II w/ my fav komedian Eddie so to say the least this song holds a lot sentimental value to me.

So when I heard @janfammovement was giving the k(c)hance to learn the official khoreography of the 2000 VMAs and meet the choreographer @mrkudelka … I jumped on it!!!

Little did I kno it would reignite a flame 🔥 that I thought was dead. Now for the last 6 month i have been taking dance klasses and getting back to my BAG. If I kan tell my younger sumpthin’… I would tell him:
EFF WHAT PEOPLE THINK KEEP DANCIN’
