My new song, Winners, is out now 🤍
.
6 months away from graduating college, I realized that I had set myself up for a future where I’d never get to pursue my passion for music. Drowning in my final semester and a sea of job applications (in this economy?), I lost my sense of identity. Stress pimples riddled my face, and dormmates grew concerned for my well-being.

I remember feeling an urge to make a drastic choice. Of the many things I could have done, I’m grateful I turned to the one that has always brought me safety: songwriting.

Winners is a confession that feels crazy to make. It’s my best attempt at explaining how, even with material comforts and a stable social standing, one can still feel an unbearable sense of dissonance.

We are born good, but tempted by the rules of our system - one that gives rise to greed. In such a system, I believe no one is entirely guilty for seeking wealth.

But for everyone’s sake, we have a duty to stay skeptical. To never fully buy into the rules of the game. In search of stability, we cannot pay the entrance fee with our values.

Let’s not lose the good in us as we try to become... Winners.

Out now.

Today’s Youth is now out for you to enjoy 🧡 Listen at the link in my bio

I won’t lie, it took everything I had and more to make this song a reality. So many sessions in the studio f#cking up guitar takes and singing until my falsetto gave out 😵 So many hours sat with @nathancs10 trying to tease out the perfect mix. I’ve never met someone so skilled and so patient. Whatever I paid Nathan, he deserves triple. Special thanks as well to @hanny37 for rocking the drums in ways that I couldn’t have imagined. It was a dream to build this song alongside you both. Finally, so much gratitude @mingweicyprien for the kick-ass portraits. 📸

More to come. by @iamkingfear

It’s time to clear the air.

Winners is not “Capitalism sucks and we should all quit our jobs.”

It’s “be careful of materialism”
It’s “succeed, but do no harm”
It’s “never abandon your passions”

Above all, it’s this: No one can take away your values. Not unless you let them.

Do good. Be well. Stream Winners 🤍

‘Winners’ is about saying No to a system that demands Yes.

If you’re ever walked away from “success” because it felt wrong, this song is for you. Link in bio
