I went on vacation right after ESSENCE Fest, intentionally unplugged, and I’m just now getting back and reflecting with so much gratitude. 🥹

This year was filled with some personal and professional firsts. I had the honor of speaking on two ESSENCE stages thanks to @newvoicesfamily and sharing those platforms with some truly badass women who are change agents in health and healthcare.

I was also incredibly proud of the work our team at @blkwomenshealth brought to the festival with our “Soundtrack of Our Health” activation. We created space for meaningful conversations, laughter, music, and community. And @its_justchanny, you are a rock star!!

Can I just give it up to @sherrieshepherd who joined us and poured into the audience with so much transparency and fun.

What got you here won’t get you there. 💫 As we step into the new year, I am reminded of this. I know a lot of you deep down probably realize that you may just be the problem and the solution in your life. 💫 That real realization changed everything for me. As I step into this new year, I recognize that I will continue to evolve. Each year I have the honor of co-hosting the Mayor’s Black Pride Reception. I do not take that for granted, especially now when across this country everything from DEI to LGBTQ rights is under attack. I am proud to live in my hometown of Atlanta, once coined “the city too busy to hate.” That spirit starts at the top, and @andreforatlanta has ensured that our city continues to live up to that promise.

Much love to our new Director of LGBTQ Affairs @dewayneq, and congratulations to our honorees. The phenomenal @queer_nik, along with @sosobrat and @darealbbjudy, remind us of the brilliance and influence within our community. Deep gratitude to @rashadburgess and @gileadsciences for always investing in our community. And of course, kudos to @candacestanciel for her leadership, along with the many hands behind the scenes who made this beautiful event possible.

How did I make it all the way to my 50s before taking my very first solo vacation?

People have actually argued with me, insisting that can’t possibly be true. 😂😅

What they didn’t know is that I became really good at borrowing moments. I’d tack an extra day onto a work trip and call it a getaway.

But that’s not the same as leaving it all behind.
There’s something different about choosing yourself without interruption for multiple days in a row. It was transformative. I even wrote a Substack about it. Link in bio. by @iamlisacunningham

Community is an overused word but somehow like the word love you know it’s real when you feel it. The strength of the sisterhood showed up this weekend and I am eternally grateful. Two of the largest women’s health organizations in the country @blkwomenshealth and @girltrek came together in Atlanta for a very powerful morning of exercise and fellowship. To the entire GirlTrek squad you all are amazing!!! @vanessatreks @thehaileydarby @renatetreks @chasititreks 💜💜 And our Team BWHI represented!! Knetta, Shelby, Raven!! 🙌🏾✨ @chershaw thanks for sharing your daughter with us. Debran you were MVP!! 🙌🏾 We laughed and cried and got our steps in. 🥹🙌🏾 there are too many people to thank but I do want to give some special shout outs to our partners at @morehouseschoolofmedicine and @gradyhealth. Atlanta!!!!!! Join me this Saturday! If you have a story about how you decided to take your health back I want to hear from you. I’m looking for millennial moms with stories, menopause, crusaders, weight-loss champs, and more.

We are having a community walk with @blkwomenshealth and @girltrek and we will be filming and hearing from women about their health journey. As most of you know, I took my health back a few years ago and as of today, I am a whopping 80 pounds down. But it’s not about the scale because you can be metabolically healthy in a larger body. A full circle moment at the Pink Awards last night. I’ve known @askaprillove for years from my time in the entertainment industry, so to be honored by her in this chapter of my life felt deeply meaningful.

Knowing her journey as a breast cancer survivor, and the strength she carries into every room, made this recognition land in a different way. To receive the Samaritan Award for my work in health equity with @blkwomenshealth, surrounded by a sisterhood of survivors and thrivers, was powerful.

Nights like this make me so grateful for the pivot… for the remix. Thankfully, the journey didn’t break me, it refined me and I can’t wait to see what’s next. #pinkawards2026 by @iamlisacunningham

I have traveled across the country with this little film of ours and every city gives me something different. 💜 But Boston was truly exceptional. 🥹🥹 These young people showed up and turned into the stars of the day with their curiosity and excitement. Another award for our film Me Period!! Last night I had the honor of winning Best Female Director of a Documentary at the @urbanworldff 💜🥹 This award was presented to me by the @nywift. THANK YOU!!!! ✨ It all started with being selected from @blackgirlsrock. So another big thanks goes to to @djbeverlybond 💜 I will eternally be grateful to @blkwomenshealth for allowing me to use my gifts in this way and for being a national organization that fights every day for health equity for black women and girls. I finally did it. My first DEXA scan. After major weight loss, I wanted to understand what my body is actually made of, not just how it looks.

A DEXA scan gives insight into muscle, fat, and bone health. Big shout out to @pravidahealth and their powerhouse owner @melissamproctor

And waving hi to @hologic, the company behind this tech and the 3D mammograms many of us get yearly.
