Art and stories can change the world. Whether we’re inspired to change or offers us a new perspective, it has the power to shift conversations and change narratives.

This is why I’m so exited to be a part of Far South/Border North, a program to increase awareness of some of the most pressing issues affecting San Diego and Imperial counties through art and culture practice.

Within these next months I will be implementing a series of art, storytelling and wellness workshops right here in our Valley to bring about awareness in these topics. Sharing tools, cultivating connection and building vital bridges within our communities. These events are free and open to the public to any individuals interested in a journey of introspection, acquiring perspective & cultivating connection.

Avila Adobe is the oldest standing residence in the city of Los Angeles. It was Built in 1818 by Francisco Avila in what was then known as “El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles” later shortened to “Los Angeles.” He was a cattle rancher & native to Sinaloa, Mexico. His home & riches were seized in 1868 during the Mexican-American war. That’s 150 years ago.

This building is found in what we now know as, “La Placita Olvera” which was then considered the center for “community life.”
.
.
It was made out of Adobe, hence the name. Adobe is used to describe a sun-baked building material made out of earth & organic materials. Sound familiar? Lol
.
.
I took this picture exactly a year ago today. We were in the midst of things & collective changes. The area was completely empty and it served me with the opportunity to reflect & connect with my ancestors. We’ve endured & survived through so much. I took the time to thank them for paving the way. Served as reminder that we are resilient & so powerful especially as we come together as one race. The Human race! 🙏🏽

Living along the coast & driving on the
8 East has been a journey I’ve embarked in hundreds of times before & still none of those times has felt like this one.

This time I return a Healed woman. Fully stepping into my power. Having remembered who I am & ready to fulfill her Dharma. In other words ready to fulfill her life’s purpose.🎉

I’ve been very privileged to be surrounded by amazing friends. Beautiful souls that God has sent in my direction to do life with. Thank you for seeing my in the midsts of pain, for your pouring into me & loving me as you have.

Im really excited to share with you all some of the neat things Ive learned along this journey of transformation & breaking away from Shame to finding my most Authentic Self. For now I say, Thank you.💛🌻✨
