This week I had the opportunity to present at SlovakiaTech, the country’s largest tech conference, about Needronix, the international technology consortium STEPHANIK, and the future of space technologies.

STEPHANIK is helping Slovakia build world-class space capabilities by connecting academia and industry, creating new infrastructure, and developing and keeping talent in Slovakia.

Its first technical objective is to develop a 150kg+ modular satellite.

“No matter what you heard — size matters.”

That’s how I began my presentation about what we do at Needronix.

The night before, I learned that I only had 90 seconds to present our company to investors, potential customers, and partners. Since there were many presentations back-to-back, the only way to make a lasting impression and be remembered was to be different. I chose a bold joke to do that and I managed to say everything that needed to be said in 30 seconds.

It worked. People laughed, people remembered it, people came to me after the presentation.

So what is a CubeSat? A standard CubeSat is a small satellite with a cubic shape, each side measuring 10 cm. The question is, how are we able to create such small satellites? The answer lies in the miniaturisation of electronics.

At Needronix, we are designing and developing CubeSat components that push the limits of what is possible in terms of size and performance. That’s what we did with our sun sensors and earth sensors. Our components save a lot of valuable space in a CubeSat and offer great performance. taken in Prague, Czech Republic by @iampatriklaszlo

Time flies. Last year, I was part of a Slovak delegation to Dubai to attend Space Week at EXPO 2020.

The world needs more events like Expo to get people inspired by our advancements, strengthen international cooperation, experience and bring together various cultures from all around the world, admire modern technologies and to point out the problems which we all currently face together and explain how to deal with them.

On Friday, we celebrated European Science Night 2026 in Bratislava.

It was great to meet so many people curious about science, space and technology, and to show a little of what we do at Needronix.

At Needronix, we believe that making science and space more accessible, and inspiring the next generation to get involved, is incredibly important. The future of the space sector will need not only scientists and engineers, but entrepreneurs, managers, lawyers, designers, marketers and many other talented people with different perspectives and backgrounds. taken in Bratislava, Slovakia by @iampatriklaszlo

This week we attended the New Capabilities and Countries in European Space Conference at ESA’s Centre for Earth Observation in Frascati, Italy.

We had the opportunity to present our expertise, connect with companies across Europe, and explore potential collaborations.

I am grateful to @europeanspaceagency for not only organizing a productive event but also some unforgettable side activities, like wine tasting in a 2200-year-old wine cellar.

Already looking forward to the next edition!

This week I attended a breakfast networking event held by AmCham Slovakia and DLA Piper focused on space law and space economy while the new Slovak Space Act will enter into force on February 1st.

It’s great to see how the space industry in Slovakia is moving forward.

Last week I attended the International Astronautical Congress 2024 in Milan, Italy.

It’s a great place to find inspiration, meet friends and partners from across the world and it’s always incredible to see how many interesting missions are being prepared.

This year, I had the opportunity to present our company’s activities to businesses from the Catalonia region of Spain, Slovenia, and Latvia. I also had the honor of presenting at a special networking event celebrating Slovakia’s 5th anniversary in the IAF, which brought together around 100 guests, including IAF President Clay Mowry, representatives from the European Space Agency, and Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Already looking forward to my next IAC.

Back in May, I had the unique opportunity to tell ambassadors of 21 countries, including economic powerhouses like USA and UK, about our company Needronix at Innovation Day in Bratislava.

Representatives of both USA and UK shown great interest in our world’s smallest cubesat sun sensor Eagle.

Slovakia can definitely be at the forefront of research.
