Funny how a mirror can show you everything except the parts of yourself that matter most. When will my reflection show who I am inside… taken in Austin, Texas by @iamramoncitow

Inspired by Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, this surrealist painting explores the weight of growing up under the watchful eyes of societal expectations. As a child, I learned to question my every movement, expression, and choice for fear of being perceived differently. The eyes symbolize constant judgment, while the flowers represent the individuality that struggles to flourish beneath it. Through this work, I ask myself: Had I been free to simply exist without fear of judgment, how differently would I have bloomed?

Every doll begins with a pair of eyes. From there, each painting slowly reveals its own story, emotions, and personality.

Which one speaks to you the most? I’d love to know what you see.

The cactus became my symbol for the rare relationships that don’t wither in silence. They ask for little, survive the harshest seasons, and somehow bloom exactly when you need them most.

Revisiting old ideas is one of my favorite parts of being an artist. This is my newest nod to Roy Lichtenstein, a reminder that inspiration can stay the same while your voice continues to grow.

Blue wasn’t just a color, it was grief, loneliness, and longing. Even in the coldest shades, there’s always something looking back.

Inspired by Woman with a Hat, I let the familiar shapes wander into my own world, where bold color, oversized eyes, and playful details take over. Every artist leaves breadcrumbs; this is my way of following them without losing my own path.

Art has a way of saying what words never could. This piece is about surviving, blooming, and finding beauty in the parts of ourselves that once felt broken. If it speaks to you, I’d love to know what story you see in it.
