ACL Dump: I survived my first ACL week(s), and my first Soho City Limits! It’s crazy to think I’ve been in Austin over 9 months. While there have been many challenges, and questions about whether or not I made the right decision… I think these moments remind me why the transition was purposeful. I’m grateful to be in community with such talented and passionate people. This team has taught me a lot about myself as a professional, and a reminder of what real impact looks like when you work together.

Huge shout out to my girl @clarasimkins ! You have worked SO hard over the last couple weeks. Stepping into a new role as Events Manager, just weeks ago and being able to pull off one of the biggest moments of the year is truly remarkable. I’m very proud of you.

Recap: Last week I got the chance to work with @carlostorrehutt and the @mdfmexicodesignfair team. They touch down in Austin showcasing some amazing work by designers across Mexico. We had the pleasure of hosting them at the House for an amazing “In Conversation” inside our Cinema.

Let’s talk about it— Kanye has consistently let me down! So many things that I don’t need to mention, has made me really grow to dislike him and his choices.

Last night I was randomly gifted tickets to his show and honestly, I’m happy that I went. While there’s much to be said about, Ye what I can’t deny is how powerful his influence as a creative/artist is. His impact on fashion, music… culture has literally shaped so much over his career. As a Chicagoan, black boy from the Southside… seeing someone, a rapper, be able to dress “different,” and walk in confidence has always been what I’ve admired most about, Ye.

From bringing out Twista, to singing “All Falls Down” at the top of my lungs… this show was an ode to my childhood, and big ass hug to this beautiful city that made me.

Last week, I had the opportunity to take our members beyond the House for LOVERS, a new drawing class curated by artist and Soho House member, @rf_alvarez

Hosted at his private studio, members gathered over a selection of wines from our new wine menu while Alvarez guided the group through the creative process.

Experiences like this are always a reminder of what makes community so special—the opportunity to connect, and create.
