Gracias Mother, for holding us, raising us, loving us. 🤍 by @iamsladi

• Jai Guru Dev, Jai Guru Purnima! •
Today I bow
I bow before all those who have guided me
from darkness to light
from ignorance to remembrance.
I bow before my teachers
and my teacher’s teachers.
May their light continue to guide me
May their wisdom continue to ripple into the world
May I walk this path with humility and devotion.

I bow
to the teacher within you.
May we continue to see the Guru in all.

I bow.

Happy International Yoga Day 📿

sharing this mantra because
Yoga
goes beyond physical postures,
beyond what we can perceive on the outside,
and more about what goes on within.

what happens when we tune in,
when we allow the breath to move us
when we allow the breath to breathe us.

because even in complete stillness
prana moves

Yoga moves through our breath
our thoughts,
our awareness,
our voice.

and mantra can be a beautiful way to remember
to find the answers we’re looking for
nowhere else but
within.

Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ ~
We focus our minds on the Divine that pervades the physical, mental, and spiritual realms.

tát savitúr váreṇyaṃ ~
We worship the divine radiance of Savitur, the Sun, the supreme source of all illumination.

bhárgo devásya dhīmahi ~
We meditate upon that sacred, purifying light of the Divine.

dhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyāt ~
May that divine light awaken and guide our intellects toward truth, wisdom, and goodness.

ॐ भूर्भुव॒: स्व॒: तत्स॑वि॒तुर्वरे॑ण्यं॒
भर्गो॑ दे॒वस्य॑ धीमहि।

• the last few months have been some of the most difficult months of my entire life - and I don’t say that lightly.

Life has also given me beautiful gifts, blessings, and opportunities to grow in ways I never imagined would be possible for me.
And still, I am carrying so much that I don’t yet know how to navigate.

I’ve been surrounded by so many, yet I’ve realized that the moment I’m no longer the happy, joyful, radiant version of myself…
some connections quietly disappear.

I don’t ask for help when I need it, and that’s a pattern of mine I’m doing my best to change ~
but being my friend also means knowing that I would gladly accept a shoulder to lean on, even when it seems like I’ve got it all together.

It’s been painful to notice how many people can’t hear my silence, and how rare it is to be met without having to explain, to justify.

True care doesn’t need fixing or advice.
Sometimes it’s a phone call.
A hug.
An “I’m here”.
Presence.

Just because you see 15 seconds of my day here doesn’t mean the rest of it isn’t me struggling to breathe through something incredibly heavy, and I don’t believe everything needs to be shared in order to be understood.

These months have shown me very clearly who can stay when things aren’t easy.

I’m not angry, and I don’t take it personally ~
I’m simply growing out of relationships that only exist when I’m light, convenient, and “okay”.

So if I’ve been quieter, or if I pull back,
please know it’s not a lack of care.
It’s me choosing to slow down and feel all that I’ve been avoiding.

And to those who reached out without being asked, who held space without needing explanations ~
this meant more to me than you’ll ever know
🤍

…and if I don’t see the sun, I know it’s there.
And there’s a whole life in that,
in knowing the sun is there.

Day 1 of practising yoga every day! 🧘🏼‍♀️
Practicing yoga every day doesn’t mean practicing āsana every day ~ but today, this is what my body needed, and I’m slowly learning how to listen to her. 🦋

When I fall out of my practice, even for a few days, I feel it: my nervous system feels unsettled. disconnected. my mind becomes louder than usual..
& coming back to my mat, to my breath, to stillness (which can be really difficult) helps me return to myself.

This series is mostly for me; a way to stay accountable, a way to let my practice be imperfect ~ and alive.
And maybe also a way to make social media feel creative and playful again, the way it once did. ✨

I’ll be sharing small snippets of whatever my daily practice looks like ~ not to perform, not to be perfect, just to keep showing up.

If this resonates, you’re welcome here, whatever your practice looks like, and however often you return.

If you practiced today, I’d love to know how 🤲🏼

Hari Om! by @iamsladi

who am I
beneath the layers,
& years and years of stories
i’ve told,
i’ve believed,
i’ve adapted as mine?

What’s hidden
and what’s being revealed?
What remains when the layers dissolve
beneath the veiled sky?

Who am i
Who am i
