5 years ago TODAY I travelled up to Manchester to continue my journey on @bgt but this time not as @iamspelmann but instead as my new creation, my greatest achievement in magic, as Magician X @iammagicianx ..I genuinely had no idea how it would be received or if it would even be successful.. I literally went on with a voice over track and thought “Let’s take a gamble” Over a billion views later and global performances in the USA, Indonesia, Greece, Germany, China, Japan, Norway etc etc .. It really was my greatest gamble..Magician X is arguably the most copied, mimicked act in the world, right down to the very act I created for BGT and even @AGTLISTEN to the count down.. when it gets to ‘One’ that is Isabella’s voice.. I was leaving clues all the time..Do I still perform as X.. Magic was never meant to be solved, it was meant to be felt and experienced.“Magicians don’t keep secrets from you. They keep the secrets for you so that you still get to enjoy the mystery.”There’s something quietly beautiful about not knowing. About letting your mind wander instead of rushing to explain. Because the moment we reduce magic to mechanics, we lose the very thing that made it special in the first place.And truthfully… just because you think you know how something works doesn’t mean you’re right. Sharing guesses or exposing what you believe is the method doesn’t make you look insightful, it often reveals a lack of appreciation for the creativity, vision and imagination behind the experience.Magic, even at its simplest, is never “just a trick.” It’s the result of talent, ingenuity and countless unseen details coming together to create a moment of wonder. Dismissing it is easy however understanding its artistry is something else entirely.In the end, whether you know the method or not doesn’t really matter. Is it real? Ai? Or a wonderful optical illusion?I can’t tell you how many times people comment ‘It’s Ai’ on magic videos, something us magicians never had to deal with a few years ago. The Open Prediction is one of the most fascinating challenges in card magic.In this effect, a prediction is openly placed on the table before the cards are even dealt. An absolute classic of magic and for a very good reason. The coin in bottle is an effect that has been performed by almost every noteworthy magician over the past hundred years. This particular version is a modern twist.Historically, the coin was always removed from the bottle at the end of the effect, but in this version the bottle with the coin inside is completely examinable and left with the audience to ponder over. Some may think that the cork has something to do with the method which it doesn’t, the cork is used to nullify another possible method which was that the opening of the bottle was ground with a tool to make the opening wider in such a way that a coin could pass through at a particular angle.The method is not mine, but it is beautiful and for those that know an expensive lesson to learn.If you enjoy seeing genuine magic (not CGI) give me a follow and a like.. DO YOU KNOW HOW?? This was so much fun to film.. As many of you may know, it’s actually shot in reverse, so watch it a second time but imagine all of my movements, it’s really tricky working through each movement but I nailed it in one take (after 20 rehearsals 😂😂) I love how the video medium gives you new ways to create illusions whilst not resorting to Ai or CGI. Absolutely honoured to have won an award from the Northampshire Magic club.
