We're going back to where it all started. 30 years ago we were an uncertain band with an uncertain future and a handful of songs we rehearsed in a rented storage unit. Those songs became ‘Yourself or Someone Like You’. There is everything before that record and everything after.

So for one night only, we're coming to The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles to play Yourself or Someone Like You front to back, plus a few other favorites from that era.

One day you’re just a few friends from Orlando piling into a van to play for whoever shows up. The next, you’re looking back on three decades of songs, stages, and memories you never could have imagined.

We’ve gotten to do this together for 30 years, and we still love it as much as we did when this band started. Maybe more. These songs started as ours and somewhere along the way they became yours too. We are only here because of that.

This isn’t a finish line. It feels a lot more like a beginning. There’s so much more on the way and we can’t wait to share it with you.

I’m not being dramatic when I say this truly breaks my heart. In Music City, classically trained musicians and the staff who support them are at risk of losing their jobs. The primary benefactor Martha Ingram, who essentially saved the Nashville Symphony from running out of money over a decade ago, died in August leaving the fate of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center’s mortgage in question. Often when this happens around the country, the arts are rescued by ultra wealthy people who have respect for it, but we should all ask ourselves why that should be the case. And especially in Music City, where just a few short blocks away people are patronizing corn ball country acts bars and throwing down $8 to $10 for a can of swill.
I have a reverence for classical music so it’s easy for me to sing its praises but for some reason the masses just don’t want to think that hard or be challenged or explore the origins of western music and arts culture. They find it boring or out of touch I suppose?! I can understand how in an “attention economy” on apps like this and other video streaming sites people want to get to the point and want algorithms to serve them up entertainment slop in short video clips in between or during their daily lives. I also understand that modern pop trends emphasize repetition and shy away from musical complexity in order to capitalize on hooks and fast chorus delivery. And those things have merit BUT just like eating healthy and exercising aren’t always the most comfortable thing to do at first, the long term benefits far exceed the quick sugar highs and couch potato weekends. You see where I’m going here? Challenging the mind intellectually even if that means doing something like sitting in one place for 2 hours, unplugging and embracing the sonic tradition of centuries of beautifully written classical music that has created the foundation of modern Western music. I realize most people will scroll past this post, and that’s part of the problem but nevertheless I spent the time this morning typing it out for those handful of people who have thought of dressing up and taking the whole family out for a new experience that just happens to be old 🫶 by @iamstalkingkyle

The guy on the left is in the Epstein Files but he wants you to know that he doesn’t mind pulling the plug on shows at his stadium if artists get too critical of the guy on the right who is an internationally recognized war criminal responsible for 70,000 deaths at least, many of which are children. They both get subsidized in ways that might make you sick to your stomach by the country represented by the flag in the middle.

There are a lot of things I didn’t think I would see in my lifetime like the internet, smart phones and driverless cars. I laughed off the latter and now they are all around me. It would be easy to do the same with super intelligence and its ability to quite literally END us if the right conditions exist. Well, every moment that passes without strong global and governmental regulations are CREATING the conditions for disaster. And who profits? A small group of people make a tremendous amount of wealth that will be worth nothing because every human’s security is at risk. This is a total no brainer and this is where humanity’s capacity to envision a positive future for ourselves could really shine. I’m desperately trying to have hope that greed, competitiveness and power dominance won’t ultimately win out. I have never been a praying person or involved myself in any organized religion but if I had one to send out for humanity THIS would be it. 🙏 by @iamstalkingkyle
