Dear Miles and Noah,

I did this for you!

Graduating with my Master’s degree from Georgetown University wasn’t just about school or a diploma. It was about showing you both what’s possible when you stay committed, push through the hard times, and never stop believing in your purpose. It took sacrifice — real sacrifice. I juggled a full-time 9-to-5 job, organized community runs, coached cross country, helped coach your T-ball team, kept running myself, and even published a children’s book — all while chasing this dream.

There were days I was tired, overwhelmed, and questioning if I could keep going. But I kept moving forward — because of you boys. Because I want you to grow up knowing that anything is possible when your “why” is strong enough.

You’ll hear people say, “My plate is full.” But remember this, boys: We can’t complain about our plate being full when the goal was to eat. That’s the life I’m building for us through hard work. Be grateful for every opportunity. Be nice to everyone you meet along the way.

You guys are my biggest inspiration. You’re the reason I hustle with heart. I hope one day you look back and realize this degree, this journey, these sacrifices were never just for me. They were for us.

I’m not a runner.

That does not define who I am.
I’m a husband, a father, a communitarian, an author, a student, and more.

I just so happen to run.

NYC was my 2nd marathon of the year. Beyond blessed to have the energy and health to work, coach, coordinate runs and above all be the best father and husband that I can be, all while finishing up my masters at @georgetownuniversity

As I wrap up 2024, I want my kids to look back and say if my dad did all of this, I can do anything.

Don’t let one thing define who you are. Dream big, manifest it, apply yourself. Anything is possible. taken in New York, New York by @iamthemayor

I’m proud to be Hispanic. Both of my parents came from Cuba and gave me a better life. They put their head down and went to work. There’s a similarity to that and running. Wake up, put in the work. No matter who’s watching, it needs to get done. The more work you put in, the better it gets.

Shoutout to @adidasrunning & @dickshouseofsport for showing the city love.

Me siento orgulloso de ser hispano. Mis dos padres vinieron de Cuba y me dieron una vida mejor. Bajaron la cabeza, se pusieron a trabajar y nunca dejaron de esforzarse.

Hay una conexión entre eso y corriendo: levantarse, trabajar duro y cumplir, sin importar quién esté mirando. Mientras más trabajo le pongas, mejores serán los resultados.

I have a Masters Degree from @georgetownuniversity 6X marathoner, 20+ years as a Parks professional, worked with major brands, I have worked with different teams and met some of the worlds best athletes, I’ve coached so many different young athletes…

But nothing exceeds being able to coach both of my sons.

This book I wrote and self published talks about the different type of dads throughout baseball. How all of them have good and bad attributes.

Am I the best Baseball dad? Not even close. But daily I take some time to analyze what I’m doing wrong and right.

Do I want my kids to play high school? College? Go pro?

Absolutely!

But above all, I want them to be good men when they grow up. I want them to look back at these years and realize that these were the best years.

I want them to use the game as a tool in life and God willing pass it along to their kids.

Through relatable examples and thoughtful reflection, I explore how a father’s words, reactions, expectations, sacrifices, and presence can influence a boy’s confidence, discipline, identity, and love for the game.

If you’re ever in Baltimore make sure to stop at Camden Yards.

We had a great time this Labor Day weekend. Four games in four days.

Thanks to the @hiltonbaltimore for the nicest balcony view in all of baseball.

Ain’t how you start, it’s how you finish!

Second meet of the season for us. Getting better every week.

I was extremely impressed with @darian.rodriguez_ not with his second place finish but how he stayed back cheering until the very last runner passed the finish line. That’s what real winners do.

The things you see on a XC course are extremely motivational.
