30 years I’ve been here and I have some things to say.
I love being around silly people. I think we all need to be more silly. I love my family and I love talking to them, proper talking. It’s one of the most special things in life. I love my friends too, I don’t think they’ll ever know just how much they mean to me.
I will never stop asking people if I can pet their dogs. I just won’t.
I love being an actor. Getting to perform and tell stories is wonderful. I’d love more opportunities. It’s hard. This industry is (at times) toxic and just not nice. Sadly it’s usually from the top, down. But I’ll continue to work hard and back myself because I believe in myself. Also I’m turning away from negativity and towards good energy and people who genuinely care about what they do.
Also, It’s fucking okay to change. People grow, paths shift, and sometimes the way we see eachother changes too. It’s okay if not everyone understands my journey. But we are all quite small in a huge world, and life is far too short. Just be dead on :)
And finally, me!
I’ve struggled with the bitch in my head for a very long time. Years of self criticism. My own body was my worst enemy. It’s taken 15 years, maybe more, to quietly shut that voice up and start enjoying who I am, and who I’m becoming. I am seeing a noticeable increase of severe weight loss and unhealthy body standards. What makes me sad is how much time and energy people lose chasing an arguably impossible ideal. Please don’t let your body become a lifelong project of punishment and comparison. Try to enjoy what you have :) I wish I listened to that when I was younger. It’s okay that I’m gaining weight. It’s okay if there are rolls. It’s okay if my skin is lumpy. It’s grand if I have bumps and scars and hairs and lines. I’m learning to enjoy my body and be thankful it’s carried me to THIRTY. YEARS. OLD. Also: medication and therapy helped. If you can do it, do it.
Anyway, heres to 30. I’m full up on joy.
I’ll have a pint, kiss my partner, and enjoy this life that I have.
