What an epic finale to our road trip odyssey! We cruised from Hampi to Hyderabad clocking approximately 400 thrilling kms through breathtaking landscapes. The journey was pure magic—beaches, forests, drool-worthy food, and the best company imaginable. Spending these days on the open road, discovering hidden gems, made us feel truly alive! Sristy left us hanging midway in the trip and headed home for work via Goa airport, after which we drove 400 km to Hampi, a place with a different vibe altogether. The welcome was all about boulder hills, monkeys, and coconut trees, and we headed straight to our stay in the lap of nature, eating with a view that even had crocodiles. Evening was spent at Sanapur Lake and exploring the ruins of the forgotten empire of Hampi, worshipping at Anjanadri temple, Virupaksha Temple, strolling through Hampi Bazaar, and dining at Mango Tree, where their banoffee pie is a must-have. The next day began with a peaceful morning walk around the resort along the Tungabhadra, followed by what I do every holiday — a lap of swimming in the lap of nature — before a guided tour of the Vittala Temple and finally heading back to Hyd, to be home before the clock strikes 12 for the new year.

Our Goa leg was a perfect mix of scenic drives, great food, and stunning views. We journeyed from Kumta to Goa covering 180 km, then stayed near Dabolim as my wife had an early flight, next morning. A memorable lunch at Filomena’s — their tender coconut chilly is a must-try — set the tone before exploring North Goa’s Vagator and Anjuna, indulging in spinach cheese momos at our favorite Darjeeling Momos and dinner at German Bakery. The next day began with dropping wifey off at the airport and then to a magical sunrise at Hollant Beach, a walk through colorful Fontainhas, breakfast at the iconic Café Bhosle, and a drive down to Palolem. We ended the trip with a breathtaking sunset at Cabo de Rama and good food & vibes at the Art Resort beach shack — Goa truly served the best food and vibes of the journey.

On this leg of the journey covereing ~ 200kms along the stunning Karnataka coastline turned even more memorable when Kumta emerged as an unplanned gem, drawing us in with its serene beaches and leading to stays that perfectly suited our spontaneous detour. There, we savored breathtaking sunrises at Kumta Beach, offering pure peace, followed by a delicious breakfast at Hotel Kini. The adventure continued with a picturesque boat ride in Honnavar, divine visits to Murudeshwar and Mahabaleshwar temples, and enchanting sunsets at serene Kudle Beach and rocky, windy Kumta Beach, topped off with great kombuchas at Halfway Home and an amazing oceanfront dinner at Kudle.

After a scenic 460 km drive from Pondicherry to Gandikota, we were greeted by the breathtaking “Grand Canyon of India.” Our stay was barely 30 meters from the cliff edge, offering an unbeatable view of the Penna River gorge. The night came alive with a crackling campfire right by the river, where we brewed tea under a star-lit sky — pure magic! Morning brought a golden sunrise over the canyon, followed by fort exploration and a peaceful boat ride through the calm waters. A truly unforgettable escape into nature’s grandeur.
