Where I came from is not where I’ll end up.

I come from a line of women who sacrificed their own dreams to make sure their families survived. Because of their strength, I have the opportunity to dream bigger.

As a first-generation graduate, I’m proud to be creating a new path. One built on education, ownership, financial freedom, and possibility. I’m not just working toward success for myself; I’m working to create opportunities for the generations that come after me.

This degree is more than an accomplishment. It’s a reminder that cycles can be broken, legacies can be rewritten, and the future can look different than the past. ♾️

Growing up, being a woman of color meant success was never just about you.

It was about making your family proud. Making sacrifices. Choosing the safe route. Making sure your hard work turned into something tangible.

I grew up believing that dreams were hobbies and passions were risks. That success meant finding something secure and sticking with it, even if it wasn’t what you truly loved.

We carry our families’ sacrifices, their hopes, and their expectations on our backs. Failure feels expensive when so many people are counting on you to make it.

But somewhere along the way, I realized that honoring those sacrifices didn’t mean abandoning my dreams.

Sometimes beating the odds looks like betting on yourself.
