Helga, our 2005 Mercedes Benz Vario 615d is the latest addition to the madhouse and the start of a whole new chapter! 😅

The plan is to spend a few months here and there travelling with her, using her as our base, but most importantly… as a garage! 😂

We’re not building a house on wheels. We’re building a garage on wheels. a motohome, not a motorhome 😁🏍️🔧

We love travelling on our bikes, eating out, enjoying the sunshine and actually experiencing the places we visit, rather than sitting inside a van. So the plan for Helga is simple: get us and the bikes to those places comfortably, then give us a solid base with all the tools, storage and necessities we need.

Helga has already had quite a bit of work done by @__vnsnn__ & @womopowerrostock which made the drive back home a lot of fun, and some new parts incoming from @rlmetalworks 😊👌

Basically, we want maximum garage, just enough comfort, lots of turbo boost noises & minimum faff. Helga will have a fresh new lease of life. 😎💎

Drum roll please 🥁🥁🥁
FINAL STAGE - DAY 7 ✅👌

Felt like riding through Wales stunning scenery, endless farmland, just unreal views all around.

1974 km and 32 hours of riding DONE 👌👌👌
Not a single mechanical issue… all that bike prep this year really paid off. I honestly couldn’t be happier right now.

Stage 6 😅🙈 aka “who approved this terrain?!” a casual 345 km of chaos.

First 100 km? Perfect. Sandy riverbeds, fast plateau, feeling like a tired pro 😂!
Then we hit the mountain… HOLY GUACAMOLE 🌶️🥑
Steep rocky climbs, sharp turns, loose stones, rock steps, hard work!!!😓💪📈

But the big girls? Absolutely flew through it 🔥 can’t fault these bikes.

@ian_bergin added some drama, dropped the bike early morning and bent the foot peg (that’s in the first video 👀), then later his bike refused to start. After a while of head scratching… just a connector being a diva 🙃⚡

The next stage got cancelled because of a serious accident on the mountain, so we were rerouted on the road to the next hotel.

And honestly? After wrestling a mountain that clearly had personal issues… that road blast felt like a spa day 🛣️😂

🪨🤯 Solutions in the middle of nowhere 👇👇 Resilience. Pure SandRaiders spirit

@ian_bergin ran into a problem. A crash had dislodged the rear brake lever, causing it to rub against the footrest. What to do without tools in the middle of the desert? A mate stopped to help him and together, using a piece of wood they found on the ground and a large stone as a hammer, they tapped the footrest back into place so they could use the rear brake again 👏👏

♥️ This video captures the essence of SandRaiders. An adventure where camaraderie and mutual support among participants are essential to reaching the finish line. The search for improvised solutions to avoid wasting time and never give up. The mental and physical struggle to reach the finish line. Finding your limits and pushing past them. Endurance and resilience. That’s the SandRaiders spirit 👏👏👏👏

👉 Thanks to all this, they completed Stage 6, a route through the Atlas Mountains covering over 300 km. Incredible ✊🤩

If I had a penny for every time someone told me the Tuareg and Africa Twin are “too heavy” for Morocco… I’d have enough 💰 for another bike by now. 😅🙃

@_sandraiders Day two - 384kms👌👌👌

What a day! 😎The final 183 km into the bivouac had a few wrong turns 😅 but it also had everything… sandy riverbeds, fast rocky plateaus, and plenty of soft sand to keep us on our toes 🏜️ Those flat-out riverbeds were pure fun! 💨

The heat was definitely up there 🌡️, but it just made the whole experience even more memorable.

Best part is the bikes are running perfectly so far 😅👌 A few others have had some tough luck out there, so we’re just happy, enjoying the ride, and looking forward to keeping it going hopefully all the way to the finish 🙌

When two budget-friendly relics turn out to be more fun than half the modern bikes out there, you know you’re in for a good time 😍💪🤌

I grabbed my Aprilia for just £2500 this March, and Ian’s Honda set him back £3500 a couple of years ago. Put a bit of time, love, and money into them and trust me, they’re so worth it 👌

So go find your dream project and bring it back to life❤️💪!

They’re not exactly easy to ride (more like wrestling a caffeinated cow), but oh boy, are they proper rugged fun 😅

And honestly, even after nearly 40 years, these two still look hotter than fresh toast 🤌🤌🤌 The Aprilia Tuareg 600 Wind and the Honda Africa Twin RD03, absolute classics 🔥🏍️
