Made it outside for some bivcycling. Little bit of tlc and elbow grease (plus some bike grease) from @bilslandcycles and the Cannondale is ready to go on it's holidays.

Nice reminder in the email inbox from @samaritansscotland Sam's Ride earlier in the year. Think this might have been my favourite day on a, bike this year. Brilliant route, brilliant weather, favourite company for rides @seonaidcampbell 😊

Also a reminder to wear the @kayleighsweestars jersey more often 💜🖤💜

Morning folks.

Today we answer the question "can you run a half marathon with zero running training, a rage against the machine playlist and the confidence of a mediocre white man?"

Who am I? 35563 (it doesn't have the same ring as 24601 🤔)

I don't think that it's gonna rain again today, there's a devil at your side but an angel on her way

Someone hit the light, 'cause there's more here to be seen, when you caught my eye, I saw everywhere I'd been and wanna go....

Weird week, bikes and sunsets are good though.

Took advantage of the fact that I am owed a bajillion hours from work and my handover from my current role is in hand (essentially it's done) to enjoy some bank holiday autumnal sun like everyone else on Strava. Perfect weather for the @zerolemon 🍋 @lecolcustom jersey too

Glennifer Brae, Lugton, Dunlop, Stewarton for last minute @mossgielcoffee and home via White Loch, Mearns and Humbie.

If you're not local, those are not made up locations. 🙁And I didn't even mention Clunch....

Many bike rides this week, starting with a solo South of the city spin out Dodside and over Whitelee.

Left Glasgow with temperatures hitting 18 degrees and sun shining, Dodside was delightful but by time I was on A77 the sun was setting, by time I was going over Whitelee I was in the clouds.

Still a wonderful spin, so glad I did the additional miles.

Riding bikes with good people after work every day this week.

If you're in Glasgow and you're good people, you can join too. Link in bio or search for @lecolcyclingclub Meet Up Rides on Strava.

Ride on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday this week, no drop social rides though loops are lumpy (unavoidable south of the city).

We are leaving Glasgow City Centre at 6pm, and rides are approx 40km. Yes, lights will absolutely be required, it's that time of year.

So weather hasn't been much better this week than it was at the weekend 🌨️

Getting very close to the point where @gozwift becomes inevitable, the alternative is *shudders* running 🏃

Anyway, we're staying strong and planning a 80km south of Glasgow Social spin with @lecolcyclingclub on Sunday (18th September), sign up link in my bio or search @strava for LeCol Cycling Club: Glasgow Meet Up Rides

Recently I was lucky enough to borrow a @meridabicyclesuk Reacto from @bilslandcycles and good grief, what a thing.

Now, my everyday benchmark is a Cannondale SuperSix—a magnificent, unflappable, do-it-all piece of kit. I’ve tested contenders like the Scott Addict RC, which was terribly polite and terribly competent, yet failed to dethrone the king. So going into this, I fully expected the Reacto to be a blunt instrument: fast in a straight line, but fundamentally sluggish, pig-headed, and bone-shattering.

It isn’t. Not even slightly.

Granted, off the line it doesn’t possess the rabid, whippet-like kick of a featherweight climber. But once you get those deep-section wheels rolling, it doesn’t just gather momentum; it picks up the horizon and violently drags it straight toward your face. Scaling Dodside up to White Loch, I braced myself for an excruciating slog.

Instead?

Effortless. It just surged.

Then there is the sheer absurdity of the geometry. It rides on massive 60mm carbon hoops with a front head tube that looks like the mainsail of a superyacht. By rights, on a blustery Tuesday, a hearty gust of wind ought to have hurled me into a ditch. Yet it remained utterly bolted to the tarmac. Thanks to a slightly taller front end than the uncompromising torture racks of old—ah, the Specialized Venge, mere mortals like myself can fling it down a technical descent without needing to write a will first.

To look at, it’s completely unhinged.

The dropped stays and aggressive front snout will divide opinion like a political debate at the bunch ride, but the clean lines, the sculpted brake fairings, the theatrical stance outside the coffee shop... frankly, you could stick a velvet rope round it and put it in the Louvre.

If you already have a sensible machine in the garage and what you actually crave is an unapologetic, carbon-fibre cruise missile for hunting down weekend group rides and chasing personal bests, the Reacto is just brilliant
