SPRING BALL RECAP - SOUTH SUMMIT

NOTE: check the comment thread for standout players!

I first want to thank coach Levi Thompson for trusting me to help their players get seen and allowing me to come by for practice. I have a ton of respect for the coaches in our communities that maximize opportunities for their student athletes.

HERE IS WHAT I SAW:

I was impressed with what I saw in Kamas. From the coaching staff, to the players, to the structure and mission of the program - South Summit is on the right track. Throughout the last couple decades, the Wildcats have always seemed to be competitive. There have been a couple rough patches, but I believe they are setup to have a great run over the next several years. Coach Thompson is only in his second season as a head coach, but it is obvious that he has implemented a standard that is required to build a winning culture. His coaching staff is excellent, the strength and conditioning program will be one of the best in the state, and the players believe they can be developed the right way. I would encourage any South Summit kid who is thinking about playing football to really consider being part of this program. They will be better players and men because of it.

The Wildcats return some key pieces from a year ago, but will also have a few young guys step up and play a big role as the season progresses. From a playing perspective I like the balance this team has, they are capable of beating you through the air or on the ground. I expect a physical and disciplined group that doesn’t beat themselves. Based on what I observed, this will be a competitive team in the 2A classification with championship aspirations. I believe this roster has a few players with next level potential and I look forward to being back for a game this fall. Appreciate the time fellas!
