On Sunday, my birthday, I finally had the privilege of meeting the one and only @sophialillis, currently starring in @datatheplay at @lorteltheatre. Though it was damn cold and slushy that day, she and her cast mates were kind enough to chat afterwards with us fans and offer autographs and pictures 📸🙏

Sophia became known to me on September 8, 2017, when I visited @amctheatres Empire 25 in NYC to see IT: Chapter One. I was aware of the film through my former employer, working on the VOD release, as WBD was one of our major studio partners in 🇺🇸 cable TV. Having already seen the 1990 miniseries, I was curious, especially regarding Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise compared to Tim Curry. I had no awareness of the rest of the cast…

And then, there she was: Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, The Heart of the Losers Club. From the moment I first saw Sophia, I knew that she was magical and special and I needed to keep aware of her. And indeed, over 8 years later, she continues to inspire me.

Prior to this week, I had already seen Sophia perform at @studiotheatre in the play Heroes of the Fourth Turning (2022). And I was present at the @tribeca screening of her film The Adults (2023), which she attended, a few months after the blockbuster release of @dungeonsanddragonsmovie. Being around her is truly a spiritual experience for me, especially now that we’ve spoken. Before she departed that night, I offered her a bouquet of roses, a Fiji Water and a handwritten note of gratitude almost 3 years in the making. She seemed surprised, but pleased, and I believe the experience was good for both of us 😌

Many thanks and congratulations to the whole team of Data for their fine work. I look forward to returning on February 13, Sophia’s birthday 🎂😁 Someday, maybe, I’d love to hear her story from her own perspective.

As @francisfordcoppola has shared, the scripted line was “Leave the gun.” But Richard further improvised “Take the cannoli.” Brilliant moment from a brilliant film!

Just finished watching @primitivewarmovieofficial! 💥🦖🦕🤩🎥🎞️❤️

Based on the novel, #PrimitiveWar is effectively The Vietnam War meets Jurassic Park. Fun, heartfelt and action-packed, this movie is fire 🔥 The last slide features a favorite moment in the performance of @jeremypiven as Colonel Jericho 😂

With a sequel in development, the global home video rollout is in progress. Exciting! Congratulations to the creative team 👏

Here I am with @jeremypiven after his final show at @arlington_drafthouse on Saturday. It was a fun and heartfelt event that ended with a touching tribute to his late mother, Joyce Piven, whose birthday it happened to be. I’ve been attending Jeremy’s events for years now, but this was my first opportunity to do a meet and greet. Sweet!

Back in August 2019, Jeremy was the first headliner comedian I saw live. At the Arthouse Hotel in NYC, I was seated up front and feeling nervous for a new experience. He noticed my energy and said, “You look like you’re being held against your will.” I insisted, “No, man, I’m having a great time.” and he countered with, “Well, tell your face.” I’d never been roasted before and felt my face go red, not sure what to say. He noticed this and, offering a handshake, insisted that he was just kidding. And, after he finished his set, he shook my hand again!

That’s who Jeremy is, a kind and generous talent. More than just Entourage, he’s been working his ass off in comedy, movies and TV for years! Ari Gold, a role for which he earned 3 Emmys and a Golden Globe, is but one example of his performing abilities. As my shirt hints, he is also part of the cast of @primitivewarmovieofficial, in which he is great as Colonel Jericho. Also recommend My Dad’s Christmas Date (2020) and Last Call (2021). And coming later this year is his passion project @theperformancefilm, adapted from an Arthur Miller short story which Joyce brought to his attention. Word of mouth from preview screenings is good!

Keep on livin’, J. Piven! From one comedian and actor to another, you’re my hero. Hope to be on set with you someday 🙏
