🆕 Journal of the International AIDS Society (JIAS) supplement “Towards elimination of sexually transmitted infections: Research developments and vaccine uptake”, guest edited by Jeanne Marrazzo, Nelly R Mugo and Yves Levy.

Scientific advances are creating new opportunities to transform STI prevention. AIDS 2026 is here! 🥳🥳🥳🥳

And guess who’s in Rio?

Yours truly, Doreen Moracha.

This year, I’m wearing some pretty big shoes,and carrying an even bigger heart,as one of the AIDS 2026 HIV Prevention Ambassadors.

And trust me… I’ve been cooking up something special for you.

It’s called Prevention Diaries.

If you’ve been part of this community for a while, you already know how passionate I am about making science make sense. I love translating research into conversations that all of us can understand, relate to, and use in our everyday lives.

Because I truly believe that information fights stigma. And we cannot end AIDS if we haven’t ended the stigma surrounding HIV.

So over the next few days, we’re talking about HIV prevention in all its forms,from research and development to long-acting prevention options, PrEP through the eyes of the people who use it, U=U, where prevention is headed, and the conversations that don’t always make the headlines.

I’ll also be taking you behind the scenes of AIDS 2026, speaking with scientists, healthcare providers, advocates, policymakers, and community members. Oh… and I’m hosting what I know is going to be a very exciting HIV vaccine debate at the Global Village.

So expect a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and a whole lot of beautiful conversations.

If you’re in Rio… you might just end up in Prevention Diaries.

And if you’re not in Rio, don’t worry,I got you. Just follow along, grab your bundles, and let’s experience AIDS 2026 together.

Na semana em que o Brasil recebe a maior conferência de HIV/AIDS do mundo, eu conversei com @frednicacio sobre uma realidade: pessoas pretas continuam enfrentando mais barreiras para acessar prevenção, diagnóstico e tratamento.

Enquanto a ciência avança, o racismo estrutural segue determinando quem chega ao cuidado e quem fica para trás.

É esse debate que precisamos levar para a @aids_conference e transformar em ação.

A Global Village é onde as comunidades colocam no centro o que muitas vezes fica do lado de fora das grandes conferências.

É ali que pessoas vivendo com HIV, movimentos, redes, artistas, ativistas e pesquisadores de diferentes países trocam experiências, organizam lutas e disputam os rumos da resposta ao HIV.

Porque viver com HIV também produz conhecimento. E esse conhecimento aparece nos debates sobre cuidado sem moralismo, redução de danos, acesso a medicamentos, racismo, transfobia, desigualdades territoriais, financiamento e participação social.

Na Global Village, a arte também entra como linguagem política. Memórias, desejos, denúncias e futuros possíveis ocupam o mesmo espaço que a ciência e as políticas públicas.

Mas participação não se garante só com convite. Passagem, hospedagem, alimentação, acessibilidade e estrutura também definem quem consegue estar presente e fazer sua voz valer.

A Global Village é gratuita e aberta ao público.
