A celebration of the bass-music multiverse.
First event - 28th May
London based.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Come and see me kick off the room 2 at @aajamusic tomorrow night from 8pm. I’ll be doing a quick warm up from 8pm before handing over to @tryb_official @carlosbiendia and @habibtatii for their interpretations on the theme ‘Roots’.

Personally, for this theme I’ll be taking things back to specific time in my musical roots and doing things selector style with some 90’s RnB, Soul and Acid Jazz. If you’re not familiar with how the UK black music scene was producing some of the best music in these genres (yes, even rivalling the US!), come down early.

Big thanks to @_pull_up_ldn for letting me curate room 2 🤘🏾 by @ibit.music

Pull Up x In Bass I Trust Present ROOTS, the latest theme for room 2 of our monthly open decks @aajamusic

Conceived by @missyd411 in the Pull Up WhatsApp group, ‘Roots’ invites DJs to share and celebrate their heritage. The night will lead us through dozens of countries and cultures with @carlosbiendia spinning rare salsa and UK Funky records; @habibtatii cutting through Armenian, Iraqi and Iranian inflected footwork and hardcore; @tryb_official championing Afro-diasporic rhythms from across the globe; not to mention, Pull Up stalwart Missy411 delving into the lower frequencies that bind the Caribbean and Croydon together.

Roots is the latest addition to Pull Up’s main themes: ‘Dojo’, ‘E-mosh’ and ‘Fine Wine’. We’ve been running the theme room alongside our monthly open decks for nearly a year now and have decided to refine it by asking some of the DJs at the heart of our beginner course and open decks to collaborate with musicians and nights they find inspiring.

This debut episode of ‘Roots’ has been curated in collaboration with Missy411’s In Bass I Trust event series. Follow @ibit.music and @missyd411 on IG to catch their next gigs/events. taken in London, United Kingdom by @ibit.music

I just wanted to give a massive thanks to all who came down to the first In Bass I Trust party last week, and even if you couldn't make it down, your support is greatly appreciated ☺️

@missjasdj @bindas.wav and @majadarlington absolutely smashed their sets - much love to the 3 of you 🫶🏾

There will be a short break while I figure out what's next for IBIT so please bear with me.

Stay locked.

When you grow up in a West Indian community, having a proper sound system at every event is STANDARD. Reggae, lovers-rock, soca and dancehall laid the foundation for @missyd411's love of deep sub-basslines from an early age. From there came a passion for soul, hip-hop, house, DnB, UK garage, bruk, techno and everything in between.

Lately, she’s been deep in her dubstep bag, developing a sharp ear for low-end frequencies and a deep respect for the genre’s lineage. The result? When missy411 plays dubstep, it sounds GOOD.

She’s been showcasing that low-end pressure at 4 Quarters, Greyhound Peckham and Aaja Radio, while becoming a regular face across South London’s open decks circuit.

missy411 started ‘In Bass I Trust’ based on an obsession with all things bass-heavy, a space dedicated to exploring the many flavours of bass music, from dubstep and UKG to grime, breaks and beyond. Stay locked for future sessions.

Get yourself down to @groovetank on 28th May to see her in action. Link in bio for tickets! 🔥 missy411 on Aaja radio by @ibit.music

Calling all junglists! MAJA is here to bring the fire 🔥

Longtime jungle enthusiast, MAJA started out on the airwaves, having played live on Voices Radio and Foundation FM. She now hosts a show “Jungle Diaries” on Voices at Night where she explores the genre through a lens of monthly themes.

MAJA is also a vocalist, having sung on unreleased tracks with Jack Horner and GR, and blessed the airwaves with original songs live over existing tunes on her shows.

She made her club debut at Hootananny in March, has since played at Junglicious and we can’t wait to have her shell at IBIT. From old school to new, expect a lovingly curated spectrum of joyful, sexy, soulful, bouncy 160 goodness. If you’re lucky you might catch some live vocals on the night too so make sure you get down to @groovetank_live on 28th May.

miss jas is a DJ based in South East London. She plays anything UK bass, UKG, grime, breaks, baile funk - sounds she's loved since she was in her teens.

Having only seen male DJs growing up, she didn't think DJing was for her until she found communities that genuinely welcomed FLINTA voices. That shift from outsider to participant massively informs how she moves through the scene.

Jas’ live sets include playing for Keep Hush at Qube, Not Bad for a Girl at Planet Wax, Club Friendly at Colour Factory, Halfpipe Records at Hootananny and QueeniePrinx & Pals at Groovetank Live. Jas’ radio appearances include several shows on Voices Radio and guest radio sets on Brixton Radio and Sister Midnight FM.

Catch miss jas at @groovetank_live on 28th May. Link in bio for tickets.

For the past year Bindās (@bindas.wav) has been curating the Silky Road Tour show on Brixton Radio where she explores diasporic sounds primarily originating in the Global South - mixes that encompass (but by no means are restricted to) genres such as Afro-Desi edits, Batida, Miami Bass, UK Funky, UKG, Baile and Jersey Club. As a multi-genre global bass DJ (aka the Silky Road Tour guide!), she navigates unexplored musical territories while bringing something familiar yet groovy. She was also hand-picked by Lady Shaka to open for her Phonox show in March of this year!

Come and check her out on 28th May at @groovetank_live

Episode 1 of In Bass I Trust will be taking place on 28th May at East London’s GrooveTank - Tickets are free, get yours from RA at the link in the bio.

Dj's on the night:

miss jas is a master at mixing UK bass, bassline, UKG, grime, breaks, baile funk and has recently played with Not Bad For A Girl, Queenie Prinx & Pals as well as playing sets at Keep Hush, Colour Factory and Brixton Radio.

You may recognise Bindās from her Silky Road Tour show on Brixton Radio where she plays genres such as afro-desi edits, batida, miami bass, uk funky, UKG, baile and jersey club. She was also hand-picked by Lady Shaka to open for her Phonox show in March of this year!

If you've experienced a set from missy411 over the past year, you'd be forgiven for boxing her in as a dubstep DJ but she can just as easily dip deep into her UKG, house, electro or even her DnB bag to serve up an eclectic but weighty set

Having recently played at Hootananny plus radio appearances on Voices Radio and Foundation FM, Maja’s star is rising in the jungle and DnB scene where you may even see her pick up the mic to weave her sultry, soulful voice alongside the drum breaks. taken in GrooveTank Live by @ibit.music
