an ode to finding richness in our roots, soil, and hearty stews 𖧷

almost gave up on this one. it can be discouraging when we cannot honour the visions we have in our heads with our actual skills

but one thing i learned from master painter Richard Schmid is that growth happens by doing, learning, and moving onwards to the next. each painting is an honest expression of where we are right now, and the next paintings will be better if we keep going. i think that can be applied to life too :)

learning by doing & giving thanks to vegetables. that's what this painting brought me. i hope it also brings you good things

"the rooted garden", 2026. oil on wood, 25x25 cm.
original sold, prints available on website

which palette for you??? these little paintings taught me so much. both plants have interesting blooming patterns, which is why a lot of their open flowers are in the middle rather than at the top! taken in Toulouse, France by @ibukoart

choosing for their homes
all gentle places —
valleys mossy deep,
star-haunted waters..."
