The Ocho is back for its 10th and most action-packed year to date!

This year, The Ocho is set to introduce Combat Archery All Stars: Presented by ICAA as one of its 23 never-before-seen competitions to fans. On Friday, August 7th, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla. will transform into The Ocho’s live-action headquarters, featuring more than 11 hours of original programming. Ten unique competitions - including Combat Archery All Stars, Slippery Stairs, and Popdarts - will take place on-site. Free admission to watch!

Watch the broadcast live on ESPN2 on August 7th @ 3pm EST.

You never know where combat archery might take you.

International combat archery tournaments are where the best of the best go to compete. Montreal hosts an annual tournament, along with several recurrent friendlies and local events in different regions between Canada and the US.

The circuit of tournaments is ever-growing.

Warning ⚠️ the sport is addictive, proceed with caution (dodge the flying arrows too)

The amount of running and quick movements in the game is deceiving. So. Much. Running.

Bruises are simply arrow kisses that turn colors 😘🌈
Your finger quotes ✌🏽are much more involved, pulling back arrows to shoot confidently, or holding the bow the entire game. Hockey tape and gloves help protect the digits.

The people we aim at become the people we surround ourselves with. Make sure your aim is true 🏹

Being good at target archery doesn’t necessarily translate to excelling at combat archery.

Combat archery is more complicated and challenging than target archery, because your targets are all moving independently. They’re also shooting back at you.

The foundational skill of accuracy and precision will give you a head start.
More important to know:
Situation awareness
Arrows are top heavy
Aim with instinct and intuition
Speed required - for both nocking and dodging

Combat archery brings more to the field than competition. Friendship and fellowship form in this shared experience.

ICAA Clerk Andrew Mellen was encouraged to play by friends who were engaged in the sport just three years ago. He has since made great strides in both play and position. Andrew achieved multiple awards for most improved player early on, and was able to share strategy and teach skills to new players in his tenure as captain of several teams. His profession as a software engineer helped immensely in building out the ICAA website and developing a tournament event registration system.

Support Andrew and the ICAA in fostering the growth of the sport. The live television broadcast is just 6 weeks away ‼️⏰📺

Even the best-laid plans go awry 🏹 🫣🫢
Opponents can cross over to the opposite side of the field to retrieve one arrow and cross back to their side of the field. That player cannot nock or shoot their arrow once on their opponent’s side. A player has to go back fully past the neutral zone before they use that arrow or retrieve another arrow. Crossing over is a risk as an opponent has the right to aim for you from a closer distance.

Never a dull moment in a combat archery game.
