I do not have all my words yet. But I have enough.

Last night, seeing doulas, community advocates, and hospital champions all in one room was restorative in a way I can barely explain. This work can feel enormous and isolating and then a moment like last night happens and you remember why you said yes to all of it.

@jacksonhealth System was an extraordinary partner in this work. We were honored to work alongside their champions in Miami and we cannot wait to bring the Doula Friendly Designated Hospital™ designation to champions wherever you are.

If I told you what was hiding behind that smile, you probably wouldn’t believe me…

Reflections on life that led me to ask today, “But haven’t our ancestors always done this?” Carry generations in the hardest of times but yet they found joy and laughter and love. How else do you explain the artistry, the mastery or the brilliance? And now, here you go (yes, you IG fam!) adding to the mix - remembering, defying the odds, making lemonade and adding icing to the cake that you baked.

What a beautiful morning. 💛🎨

Today’s 2026 Art of Breastfeeding Brunch & Exhibition brought together art, families, community, conversation, food, little ones running around, and so much warmth.

I was honored to return for a second year to support BreastfeedMIAMI as curator, helping bring together this year’s exhibition and the stories behind the work. We featured 18 artists and 25 exhibition entries, with many artists creating new work specifically for this year’s call.

One of my favorite parts of the day was moderating a short artist conversation and hearing directly from the artists about the lived experiences, ideas, health issues, family connections, and moments of tenderness behind their work. And it was especially good to have so many of our exhibiting artists there with us today.

Congratulations to our People’s Choice Award recipients:

🥉 Joselyn Sira — The Whole World in Your Arms

And much love to every participating artist whose work helped tell this year’s story. There were so many beautiful, thoughtful and very different interpretations of breastfeeding, support, family and community.

Thank you to BreastfeedMIAMI for inviting me back, and to everyone who came out, shared space, asked questions, met the artists, voted, ate, laughed and spent part of their Saturday with us.

Honored to be invited back as curator for BreastfeedMIAMI’s 2026 Art of Breastfeeding Brunch & Exhibition.

This is the kind of work I love being part of: community-centered, mission-driven, creative work that uses art to open conversations, build connection, and support people in real ways.

A few artists who were recently part of What We Carry are also included in this exhibition, which makes it especially meaningful to see those creative relationships continue across different projects and spaces.

BreastfeedMIAMI’s work centers breastfeeding education, support, advocacy, and resources for families and communities, and this project is close to my heart personally too. I’m also a mom who breastfed my child for 18 months exclusively, so there’s a real personal connection for me beyond the curatorial work.

Tomorrow’s brunch and exhibition is free and open to families, with art, resources, speakers, activities, and community connection.
