Today was such a great day for the community! A huge thank you to Kristee, Shane, Rev. Reese, the Bakers, and whole community committee for allowing me to donate books to promote literacy to our youth. It warmed my heart to see the kids choose which books they wanted 😊

This Saturday we will be giving out books to youth in my old neighborhood. I’m from Eastway Park in 4️⃣8️⃣ and spent almost every Saturday at Bluff Road Park growing up. Our neighboring neighborhood of Bluff Estates is having a walk against violence followed by a family fun day. I’m so excited for this community event because it’s personal. There will be various resources for kids and young adults, voter-registration, games, food and more.

I will also have a sign up sheet for families who want to participate in a monthly storytelling/literacy workshop at the park.

Lastly, I will be reaching out to local authors, activists and book enthusiasts who can volunteer their time to share stories (personal or fiction) with youth who need to see themselves represented in the literary community.
