This car just continues to amaze me. Went back to Sonoma thanks to @daniel_roseracing with the new KW 3 way Clubsports, Hotchkis front sway bar, and 275 Khumo v730.

In the 2 sessions I was able to drive, I was able to lay down a 1:51 with @jacob.yobbo sitting passenger rounding us up to around 4100lbs rolling 😅. May I remind you this was on stock pads, stock calipers, just good fluid. I can finally say I’ve reached the limit of the pads so next time I’ll be on something more capable for the track as there was a ton of time in braking alone. Better tires and good pads and we are easily sub 50. Not bad for a daily.

Dynamically, the car was just amazing. It was so well balanced, I could get the nose pointed where I wanted and then use the pedals to steer the car, just sublime.

I’m fighting the urge to not go full race car with this thing, it’s just so good. I love this car.

Well here it is. My s65 swapped e46 M3. I never thought I’d be able to say that but here we are.

A few of you were able to guess the exact car it was from my stories so props to those that did. You get free ride alongs.

I’m beyond happy to have this car in my possession. It’s no secret I’m a bmw fanboy, and those that know me well know my affinity for the s65. To combine what is arguably one of the best bmw chassis ever made with one of the most iconic bmw engines ever made was something I could not pass up on.

This car should be FAST. It’s an extremely well built car with no expense spared. So I’m itching to take it out and see and it can do.

Had my first outing with the e90 this weekend @racesonoma. I ran the car untouched on the same 6 year old used/junk tires it came with. I clocked a 1:44.2 in traffic in this lap. Data shows a 1:42 was possible otherwise. I never got a clean lap in the whole day. (They banned me after session 3 from HPDE4 for scaring people on track? 😂). I guess I’ll stick to racing.

I can see sub 40 potential with this car. A diff + new tires would do wonders. Time to cook.

It’s my Birthday! To celebrate I did what any reasonable person would and pick up another race car 😁

It’s no secret I have a strong love affinity for the s65 as well as the e90 chassis. With the e46 still undergoing prep for the new drivetrain I figured this car would help fill in the gap.

A few highlights:

Many of you have noticed my lack of presence on here. It’s time I tell you all why.

Last year, January 2025, my first SCCA race and grand opening of the new Buttonwillow Circuit, disaster stuck once again in my little Miata; this time it was serious.

As I was catching the leaders of the race, I saw a poof of smoke exit from the hood vent. The smoke became heavier quickly and I saw flames so I went to pull my fire suppression but it would not deploy. I had forgotten to pull the pin on the fire bottle after tech inspection.

This was a costly error, resulting in most of the engine bay engulfing in flames. I stopped close to a corner worker but not too close in case the car fully engulfed. I got out and did a quick analysis of the situation. The fire suppression system didnt work and I didn’t have a handheld, but all corners workers do so I ran over and the worker tossed his bottle to me. I sprinted back and engaged the flames through the hood vents as to minimize oxygen ingress. Thankfully I was able to neutralize the fire before the entire car burned down.

The cause was found to be the power steering high pressure line cracking and aerating the fluid. The airflow pushed the fluid back on the turbo/manifold igniting it and causing the fire.

I decided to park the car after this event. It’s been an uphill battle developing this chassis for racing. This was the final straw. I don’t know what the future holds for this car but even over a year later, I have no plans/desire to touch it.

I took this car from my daily in high school to a race car and it’s been an amazing leaning tool but now I can take those lessons and pour them into something new.

2026 is going to be an interesting/exciting year. Stay tuned.

A few weeks ago I went down to Laguna to coach @g87.aj in his M2. I only drove the car briefly but I was able to click off a 1:35.8!

Very quick car but felt extremely numb. You have to use your butt to feel what the car is doing as the steering is completely dead. Pedal mapping left a bit to be desired as well as boost comes on harder than I want for a track car at the limit.

Car was very lightly modded so lots of time left on the table with just new tires and few other supporting mods.

@g87.aj was a great student and picked up multiple seconds after some coaching and exposure to the cars potential.

My advice to you beginners out there: Get some coaching. It will help expedite your journey to advanced driving. It’s worth every penny.

STORY TIME!

After finding out about the engine damage in my e46, I told myself I wouldn’t drive it until it’s exactly how I want it. And that’s with a stroker s65.

About a week ago my buddy @varuns.vrooms tagged me in a post for a guy in Chicago parting out his low mile Carbahn 4.6 stroker e92. As my eyes grew wide with excitement I got to thinking of logistics and feasibility. He didn’t want to part out the drivetrain, so I had to purchase the entire engine with accessories/headers/trans/clutch etc. He also didn’t really want to ship which made it pretty difficult on my end.

I was on a business trip in Arizona at the time so I changed my return flight and re-routed to Chicago as I was driving to the airport. Super last minute but 🤷🏻‍♂️.

After struggling to find a one way truck rental, I arrived at the guys house the next day and took the car for a drive. It felt strong, sounded insane, ran smooth and tested out perfectly. We then drove to his buddy’s shop in Wisconsin where I got to work removing the engine. 4 hrs later the assembly was out and I hauled it off to my dad’s house in Ohio where it will stay cozy until it gets shipped back to CA.

I fully admit I’m crazy for doing this. He got lucky with me as a buyer because nobody else would have done what I did. It was a logistical nightmare and extremely expensive. I just hope it’s all worth it once I take the e46 out for the first time.

Gridlife 2024 Part 2 - Thunderhill.

Coming in to this event I was fairly confident. The car had no issues from laguna, and was ready to roll. Went out for practice, things went well. On my first flier during quali, I went in to t1 and went for a downshift and got misted by some fluid out my hood vent. I pulled in and upon inspection, my power steering high pressure line had cracked and was leaking fluid. I attempted some fixes with no success. I was forced to sit out from race 1 and I tried to figure out a solution for day 2.

I was unable to source a new line locally, but I had a spare line at the shop. HUGE shoutout to @tofudelivery_ as he was willing to save my ass and drive it up from the bay area that night. I waited for him to arrive, swapped the line out, and by 12:30am the car was fixed.

Given no quali result, I gridded at the back for race 2. Unfortunately, the issue persisted, but so did I. Fluid was being thrown into the windshield, slowly obscuring my vision as the race progressed. Thankfully white flag dropped right as I made the decision to call it and pull in for safety reasons. I finished that race p8.

Re-assessing the pump, I found 2 small o-rings that seal the banjo had collapsed, and this was the source of the leak. I replaced those, and crossed my finders it was ok for race 3. It was fixed, and I ended up finishing where I started (p8). Not great, but at least I finished.

Race 4 is where things got super interesting. I was at the tail end of a grid invert. This put me in P1 for race start. I was nervous, as I knew the cars behind would eat me alive if I didn’t drive smart. Thankfully, the car behind me was good at making his car wide and this allowed me to run wide gap to p2. I was on my 5th lap and still had not been passed by the faster cars. I was starting to think to myself, “I might actually win this”.

Merry Christmas to me 😁🎅🏻🎄

Welcome my new comp car. 2015 BRZ built by GSpeed with a catalog of no expense spared premium parts. This car will be replacing the miata for wheel to wheel racing duty. I’ll explain more on that later but for now, here’s the rundown:

There’s a few little things that need to be buttoned up before this car sees the track under my ownership but nothing we can’t handle over at @_bpmotorsports_

GLTC 2024 Roundup: Better late than never.

Part 1 - Laguna.

Coming into #gridlife laguna, I had a different approach from last year. I was much more prepared. I had spent 11hrs just on the dyno solving issues and refining my tune, along with suspension changes, a test day, and more general prep with logistics etc. I was taught in the motorsports program in college, “Preparation equals results - Roger Penske”. I took this to heart and tried my best to apply it to my program.

Despite my best efforts, I still faced issues throughout the weekend. I qualified in the middle of the field (13th/31 cars) on my old tires, with the intention of saving the fresh tires for as long as possible to preserve heat cycles. Race 1 went ok, although logs were showing my MAT compensation to be neutering my power by pulling timing out. P14 finish.

Race 2 the car was essentially a hot mess, cutting boost the whole time, dropping me back to p24 from p11. I checked logs, made some more fixes, and went out for race 3.

Race 3 the car felt much better. I got a great start, and was able to climb my way back up to p11.

Race 4 is where everything came together. I made some setup changes to the car eek a little more grip out of it, and the car felt sublime. I remember rounding t3 at he front of the field and thinking, "yes, this is where i'm supposed to be". I drove the absolute piss out of the car and ended up with a p5 finish, which I was ecstatic about. I crossed the refinish line screaming. That moment, that feeling is why I race.

I didn’t win, but I WON. I fought so hard and had my best result in GLTC to date. I was loosing hope in the car, and this event although not perfect, re-inspired me to continue marching on.
